Saturday Night Live...

Re: Saturday Night Live…

Lazy,

If the want to do it, then let them do it.

If they want to be PROUD of it and post their thoughts on a public forum, then the counter view is necessary to state lest people mistake their wretch-like behavior as being socially acceptable. Social norms are reinforced, and NOT discovered on an individual basis…

If people want to be as such, especially in Pakistan, then it’s best they do it in the gutters…it should NOT be accepted in the name of being tolerant, or open minded or whatever rhetoric one wants to invoke…

Re: Saturday Night Live…

Lazy,

THis question is a non-starter. What is and what is not sleazy is predicated on our morals…and let’s not pretend that a society doesn’t SHARE moral values, even if it is only at the surface…

What you are asking us to do is engage in a moral relativism…in that case, if indeed it’s okay to think that this person is not sleazy, then what is wrong with Sara for thinking that she is?

If it is okay to write about such people/characters in a positive light on a public forum, what is so objectionable about demonizing them with respect to our morals? When done in public, it’s no longer about “live and let live”, it’s about challenging an explicit statement of approval…

It works both ways…

Re: Saturday Night Live...

That may well be Picoico, however what is it about Pakistan that it shouldnt happen there?

I can understand the shock and horror if it happened in Mecca, or Medina

But what is it about Pakistan?...why should people abroad adopt a holier than thou attitude... about their parents land

perhaps we should put the girls/boys actions in perspective

lets take a village scenario...a rich man (chief, leader or whatever they are called)
has a party in his house... has his sons around him...servants bring him single malt whiskey, liquers, he smokes cannabis...passes it onto his kids(the sons) and to their friends... he listens to a folk singer and then the dancing girls come and join them....

immoral things happen

Re: Saturday Night Live…

Islam. No matter how lacklusture the adherence at any level, it’s a factor and it’s not all “personal”…neither in theory nor should it be in practice.

Why the distinction? Pakistani’s are not real Muslims?

When their children retain the same values in their PARENTS adopted land, then you have yourself a new sub-culture. In this case, if there is a public message that it is okay to do something the sub-culture frowns on, then we need a counter message that is just as forceful…unless you think we should keep our mouths shut because you don’t happen to agree with our morals…which is typically the liberal attitude towards the religious…

Yes…and we should glorify or “accept” this why? So does rape and murder…not the same, I understand…but the logic being employed here really doesn’t distinguish between acts done to the self and crimes done to others. As a result, I suggest that mode of thought is flawed…I mean, immoral things do happen and (especially in the case of rape and murder) a case could be made that they happen all too often because not enough people speak out against it…or better yet, act against it…the occurrence of the event shouldn’t mean we blindly accept them, or not be shocked or appalled that they happen.

Re: Saturday Night Live...

dude you've posted this story before!! or what was something very similar a year or two ago ... but in that one you talked about how easy Isb girls are when they're drunk or something ...

Re: Saturday Night Live…

Personally I think “khuda shakar khoray ko shakar deta hai” … if you are a party pooper, if you are drug addict you can find a place almost anywhere in the world to get what you need. So if anyone wants to go to Pakistan or other country relying on the society to keep the child away from such stuff then they are burying their head in sand. Its parent’s responsibility for the upbringing of children, not society.

Re: Saturday Night Live…

Pakora is the Pakistani equivalent of a Frat boy. Maybe I’ll buy him a foosball table for Christmas. Every Fraternity Brother needs one of those…

Re: Saturday Night Live...

In a bid to prove ourselves to be liberated, moderate and politcally correct, we trash the person who points out decadent morals rather than those who indulge in it. Go figure.

Re: Saturday Night Live...

Pakora: WT (*&% are you? Are you a Muslim? Then where is your loyalty to Islam? Are you a Patthan? Where is the respect of your family name? What is your identity? What is your faith? What are your roots? Your culture? Your beliefs?

Or have they all passed out in a steady flow of urine and left you, a person without any substance, who wanders wherever the winds of his desire take him?

Take root young man or be lost forever like a seed that keeps on rolling without finding a place to grow and withers to nothing somewhere...

Sorry...No offense meant...

Change your company to some respected Muslim teacher who knows fiqh...Your uneasy spirit will be given water of knowledge to settle someplace...

Re: Saturday Night Live…

MR picocio (The king/queen of all acceptable and politically correct morals)

Rather than hiding behind flowery English and rhetorical questioning I would have preferred it if you had been a little honest.
a. I am very PROUD of what I do.
b. Who makes you an authority in telling what is acceptable and what is not?
c. You are in a need to a bit of discovery about social norms, what I wrote is as common to any society as sliced bread is to any household.
d. WHY Especially in PAKISTAN??? What makes Pakistan different? Its narrow minded, hypocritical, holier then thou, extremist Pakistanis like you.

Look dear Picocio No one is asking you to engage in anything, If I am a A. hole with no moral fiber cause I engage in something that is against the laws of your motherland then you are a bigger A. Hole for living in the west where such practices are a fabric of the society and hypocritically try to blind yourself and your family.
