Lahore, Pakistan
The number of controversies in Pakistan is probably at its all time high with
yet another surprise today. The DAWN newspaper in Pakistan is reporting
that the ICC has decided to lift the bans of Pakistani pace bowler’s Shoaib
Akthar and Mohammad Asif. This comes just 24 hours after both bowlers
will given 2 year and 1 year bans respectively by the Pakistan Cricket board
for substance abuse.
Sources in Lahore say that the decision to have both bowlers return was through the influence of controversial umpire Darryl Hair. Darryl apologized to the Pakistani public and also admitted wilfully that he had added numerous amounts of nandrolone in both Shoaib Akthar’s and Mohammad Asif’s Chicken Biryanis and Niharis that they consumed over the course of the last 2 months.
Umpire Hair also confirmed that the ball tampering saga in England was all done because Pakistan captain Inzimam-Ul-Haq had attacked Darryl’s wife with a bat during day 1 of the match. His wife was not available to comment, but sources say that she had referred to Inzi as “Aloo” during a TEA break at the Oval.
Later this evening, Darryl Hair stood in front of the PCB’s executive committe, who released this statement:
It is with utter disappointment that we have to release this statement in saying that Mr. Hair has been given a 5 year ban from Cricket umpiring. We appreciate his honesty and thus have let him off lightly. Mr. Hair had offered to resign voluntarily but had asked for Rupees 1 Crore in order to do so. Darryl Hair's wife Emily has also left him for young dashing Pakistani fast bowler Rao Ifthikar. Ifthikar's wife Ruksana has been said to move to India and become the chief executive for the Indian Cricket Board.
Both Shoaib and Asif will be available for the Pakistan vs West Indies series which begins Nov. 11
