Satanic Verses

Anyone read this book by Salman Rushdie? What is it about?

its about a desperate guy turning to badly writen controversy to further his career. (Thatd be the aurthur), followed by an equally stupid sequel in which groups of morons declare fatwas on the former and say stuff to the effect."off with his head" whilst never having read the book.

I dont reccomend it.

umm exaclty what in the book is anti islamic?

Check out Amazon.com as they have summary of the book, plot line and some excerpts too. The naming of the characters raised some eye-brows and then the story itself was deemed blasphemous by many.

On a purely academic side, some claim it is a fairly mediocre piece of writing, which would never had been famous had it not been so controversial, or they may have disliked it because of jarred religious sensitivities . Conversely, some others consider it a great literary master-piece, though its never clear if that is because of deemed "bravery" of convictions or actually on merit. So you will have to make up your own mind.

perhaps this might be of help…
read it if u have a lot of free time available…

I saw once his book in library but my husband told me that it is anti
islamic things in it and not to read it.
