ok so last week was my bday. my dad came to visit me. he brought me gifts, cake and flowers which he always does. mil quickly comes and tell me to call my bro-in-law to not get a cake as they were gonna surprise me wth a cake. i said ok i ll d tht . i forgot as my dad was thr. she reminded me like three times. at that time i found it funny but later i felt bad. nt that wthout her cake my bday wont be special but i just thought it wasnt good manners/respect or whatsoever.

yeah, it would be waste of a cake, and you have no idea of her intentions. she may just be trying to be nice to your dad since he brought a cake so there is no competing cake sitting there.
