Re: SARKAR SAHEB on ARY Digital
it is unfortunate that outstanding actors like Asif Raza Mir and Nayyar Ijaz have been surrounded by utter mediocrity (such as Imran Abbas, Deeba) and some outright rubbish (Kashif Mehmood, Nirma) in this drama. I have great regard for these two veterans because they are not "heroes" or "villains", they are truly versatile artists. they need more exposure.
Seema Ghazal is a plagiarizing, derivative hack who is incapable of writing a single well thought out line much less a whole character. amateurs in women's digests probably write better than her. the day she stops "writing", Pakistani drama and its wellwishers will breathe a sigh of relief. Kamran Qureshi is competent at best - that is the nicest thing I can say about him. Humayun Saeed and Abdullah Kidwani might be good businessmen - but artists they certainly are not. they might know how to make coin with these over the top filmi sob stories but they don't have the sensitivity of artists. Kidwani is the guy who - despite managing to squeeze into every play in the 90s (God knows how) - still doesn't know how to say a line properly and in character. Humayun Saeed plays the same character in every serial - that is not acting. I have seen him even wear the same clothes down to the chain around his neck in two consecutive serials.
they have forgotten that people don't watch dramas for songs, extravagant sets, overdone costumes. people watch them for stories and acting. we still appreciate good stories, outstanding acting, attention to detail, etc, - no matter how simple the set, or how simple the costumes etc.
despite having grown up watching Tanhayian, Ankahi, Tapish, Marvi, Waris, Dhuwan, ABC, etc, I can't sit through a single episode of these new dramas. they are awful. I have only watched two plays in the last 5+ years - Sahira Kazmi's Kaisay Kahoon and Raana Sheikh's Umrao Jaan Ada because both of them focused on the story and acting. I will still make time and watch Tanhayian on a weekend mainly to rekindle my one-sided romance with Shehnaz Sheikh.
but I can't stand watching any of this new "drama" nonsense coming out of Humayun Saeed and Abdullah Kidwani's sweatshop/factory. I might still have tolerated this play if Seema Ghazal hadn't hacked this script together. I refuse to watch anything that has anything to do with Seema Ghazal.
lastly, Asif Raza Mir - welcome back. you were greatly missed.

Please get commercialism out from SHOWBIZ (specially TV serials/long plays...and I doubt that you or anyone would succeed here!! because the frequency of mid breaks and flooding of adverts is almost a mafia now) and then, my friend, I promise you a revival of serials like; UNKAHI, TANHAIYAAN, JHOKE SIYAL, WARIS, UNCLE URFI, TAPISH, KAHANI KI TALAASH MEIN, QILA KAHANI, AZADI K MUJRIM, PARCHAIEN...the list goes on.... as the secret of their success, besides classic scripting, was less or almost zero adverts and only ONE channel...with hardly two or three added at later stage.
Remember---no channel, production house, script writer/dramatist, TV artiste and any one connected with a production---is in love with their viewer-----hence Seema Ghazal or Sheema Geet or Humayun Jadeed or Abdullah Badwani.....are out there--to make 'hey' while the sun shines for them---afterwhich the sun will keep shining for their likes--for every player has his entrance and exit !
You are talking to someone who is a mixture of B&W and COLOR era on TV having equally worked in as number of serials and plays in both the era's since 41 years of association with showbiz....hence I can deeply feel and hear----what you are saying...which is correct but bitter as well for serious viewers who, today, are most frustrated at the hands of TV networks monopoly and Production Houses' game of MONOPOLY with each trying to purchase Park Lane and Golders Green only ! :)
However---there is a certain wave being felt or making vibrations that certain viewers *(based in large complees and housing colonies having their associations/societies) *are mustering support from the members-- for boycoting those products---whose continuous advertisements and painful repeats--disrupting the viewing pleasure and continuity of interest in watching their serials---is noted. This course would force the Product loose its sale---leading to product maker's decision to limit their volley of adverts on channels.
I know this is a cumbersome excercise-----------but its coming for sure as I myself live in a complex having 90 apartments on two blocks of sixteen storey each..with over 100 residents--and they are looping in the nearby complexes---and finally a direct dish system by booting out the cable operators who are undr great influence of the TV networks!
Finally......you will be in a uch better position to concentrate on good TV plays sripted, written or adapted from famous novels---by dramtists other then SG or the likes....as the low commercial trend on TV serials will see off what see ON these days and sulk!
By the way....the pick of Asif Raza Mir being paired with my dearest dearest dearest Yasmin Ismail in Tanhaiyaan was the advse of yours faithfully to Hasina and marhoom Shahzad Khalil...then.
Kiya yaad diladi aap ne mri Yasmin ki......woh meri jaan theeh......bilkul meri saggi behan ki tarah. Allah ussay jannat naseeb kare..kurwat kurwat.
Khush Rahein Aap..........Subb
