SAri on Walima

Hi guys!

just wondering what you all think of wearing a sari on the walima? i mean the dupatta will not be on the head i assume? will it take away from the whole bridal look?

thoughts and experinces…?

Re: SAri on Walima

i think saris for a valima is great! i love it and love BUNTO KAZMI SAREES. AMAZING. also u can still do the dupatta thing on the head. meesha shafi did it and it looked amazing. better than some actual traditional valima joras.

Re: SAri on Walima

many people have worn sari on the barat aswell..it just depends on how good you are at carrying a sari...and in england it's even easier....:)

Re: SAri on Walima

I think saris look very elegant but my only concern is will you stand out as the bride amongst other guests that will be wearing saris? I guess it depends on how heavy the sari is and what you plan to do with your hair and what jewellery you are wearing. If your whole look screams bride then go for it but I personally wouldn't wear a sari if I thought I wouldn't stand out and end up blending in with other guests.

Re: SAri on Walima

My fiance rally wants me to wear a sari...and his famiy wil get to choose the walima clothes... havent said that i wont wear it but i havent said that i will :p but ur ight lipstick my main concern is the standing out elment? personally a bride should be the centre of attention...im not sure u really will be able to in a sari? eg. hair - if this was up or down will still look lik a guest? if u have a huge tikka...iv seen many girls (guests) like this...maybe its all in the make up? and also iv never even out on a sari so will look awkward? lol

Re: SAri on Walima

oh and i saw a girl wearing it on her mehndi? i was not a fan...im not being mean...she was healthy and the pallu was pinned on her head and it was yellow...too much for the mehndi i think...mehndi should be a bit of a plain look i think?

Re: SAri on Walima

it can definitely be done and look bridal if you wear it right, and also make sure you have the dupatta on your head. many bridal sarees usually come with a separate matching dupatta for that purpose. you can also get a lehnga with a short blouse and wrap the dupatta around in the fishtail style to make it appear like a saree.

here’s some examples of saree brides:

Re: SAri on Walima

i really like the 2nd pic, are u sure its a sari ? i like the way the dupatta is on her head and does not look weird to be honest..i it the pallu? or is it another kapra? either way looks fab

Re: SAri on Walima

yeah i'm positive it's a sari and my guess is she's using a separate dupatta over her head because the border isn't as thick as the borders of the sari draped over her shoulders. i should also note this is a bengali bride and the sari draping is different from your typical saree drape.. she has the pallu folded over the front twice covering almost her entire blouse. you can see that her neckline is a slanted straight line because it's actually the draping style of the sari, not the blouse.

Re: SAri on Walima

sorry my bad. yes it is a sari...i like the way it is draped toooo...making me re-think now :) so excited :)

Re: SAri on Walima

Bengali brides usually wear sarees which have a separate dupatta (usually custom designed for the saree)

personally i like how this bride has draped the saree

Re: SAri on Walima

you could pull the pallu back and pin it up with your shoulder and then put it over your hear.. something like this;

i love this look too! she’s wearing the whole this backwards and pulled the pallu over her head and covering her stomach.. i think madhuri did the same thing in hum app ke hai koun, for the song “didi tera dewaar dewana”
