How do u like the saree blouse to be.. as there are many different styles.
which one do u think is better, the one with hooks at front or a zip at the back…
i’ve never worn a saree before, but absolutely love them!
As u know im getting married in a few months InshAllah, going to get the blouse stitched and thot to ask u guys what should i go for..
Re: Sari blouse..
Hm the first ones i got from Pakistan had hooks in the back. Not really fitted very well, kinda like just really short kameezes. Later i got some Indian/Bengali sarees and those blouses fit perfectly!
Re: Sari blouse..
Sara, what were the indian blouses like..? i mean zip or hooks...
never heard abt hooks at the back tho..
Re: Sari blouse..
best sari blouse is with pleats up the waist, and around the sides near the bust and a pleat going across right under the breasts.
i thought i was being clever by having a few blouses with a zip hidden down the sides.. and some at the back... fitting is just not the same... best is to have hooks on the front.
Re: Sari blouse..
Thanks khawateen its really helpful, but im afraid the hooks will open up,lol...dunno just fear.
well i like the zip at the back, cz it looks more covered, but then again i want the best fitting too....... erghhh im so confused now.
Re: Sari blouse..
those hooks will not open.. trust me :)

some of my blouses had zippers, but most of em had hooks. btw, i meant they had hooks on the sides..not the back.d uno why i said back.

if it fits u properly it wont ;)
saree blouse is supposed tof it like a bra.. a bra's hooks wont open will they? :D
Re: Sari blouse..
I like the ones with zips at the back or along sides. BTW, the hooks don’t pop open if the fitting is right. I am thinking about getting a blouse made with puffed sleeves but don’t know whether I can carry that off or not.
Look here for some saree blouse designs ranging from simple and elegant to eccelctic. I don’t think many of them are wearable but you’ll find a few really good ones:

Re: Sari blouse..
i have mine with hooks infront and trust me they wont open
Re: Sari blouse..
I got a few with zips from pakistan ,those I got from india had hooks .both work fine for me .
Re: Sari blouse..
zips in back of blouse are convenient
hooks in the front are very figure flattering
zips on sides too if there is a lot of kaam
the puffed sleeves are Bengali sleeves (remember Devdas)
Re: Sari blouse..
Zip at the back, pleats at the front and back.
Re: Sari blouse..
Ok, thx guys..
most probably i'll go for the hooks, as im sure they look more sexy..lol
but i've got 1 or 2 with zips too...

i agree, i have a blouse that was made in india-- and it's fitted like this. it's the most perfect fitting- as obviously blouses have to be perfectly fitted. the ones with pleats in the back n front are just OK in my opinion
Get one with hooks in the front, they fit better. don't get it with puffed sleeves unless you are pretty skinny and the sleeves are either really short (3-6 inches) or the fabric doesn't really puff (e.g. chiffon). Puffed sleeves went out of fashion a long time ago, and if you are wearing puffed sleeves that are kind of long, it won't look good. If you want to make a fashion statement, by all means get the puffs, but if you get a blouse without them, you will have a timeless and classic look that you can wear over and over...my mom still wears her sarees that are 8-10 years old, and still gets compliments on them!
Re: Sari blouse..
^ yep No puffed sleeves..and thx..
i guess im going for the regular slight fitted sleeves with the banarsi sari, it looks classic...
