Re: Sari--a question on petti coats
Where would I get these hooks for the petticoat? How exactly do they work?
I can never tie the petticoat tight enough so when I do wear a sari it always comes loose towards the end of the evening and then I keep stepping on the bottom of the sari.:( I love wearing saris but these days because it's so hard putting on a sari, I just stick to salwars.
Whether I like it or not i'm going to master how to wear the sari!!! :D
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats

What does being in the army have to do with sarees? I cant imagine them being good combat attire. :soldier:
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats
uniform for female officers and cadets in pakistan armY is sari, so if some one is a cadet or an officer she has to wear it every day except sunday.
I think larki punjabAN is in AMC.![]()

I thought sari is an indian cultural outfit, I saw the female doctors wearing an outfit similar to sari in Army medical hospital but it looked like a combination western, shalwar and sari(had a cloth drapped accross the bust). Now im confused.
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats
Falls are the folds that are made in the front, I think they’re called pleats as well..
Rings are the ultimate trick. These are made where the falls or pleats end. BEFORE tucking in the falls, make folds of material that lead to the area where the falls will eventually go. Make a row of horizontal folds that lead all the way back. These cast a bit of a shadow on the hips making them look smaller and the rings do wonders to the butt.
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats
indeed correct…fortunately or unfortunately (yet to be decided) I am in AMC
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats
Have the tailor put hooks on the sari… I’ve seen people have hooks put on shalwars so it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s more comfortable than the azarband and it stays in place.
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats
Female doctors in army in pak wear a sari. The blouse is the same as it is in men’s uniforms…although a bit more shapely. The sari is khakhi as well and the pallu goes across the front in falls of its own and is passed under the flashes/ranks on the shoulder.so it doesn’t drape but is basically folded where it passes the bust. No shalwar involved.
It isnt a practical dress but it is definately graceful. You need to remember the only women in the army at this time are doctors or nurses. They are changing the uniform soon to shalwar kameez which although is more practical does not have the same grace.

Oh I see, I think the change to Shalwar Kammez would be a good one as this is national dress of Pakistan, besides being more practical, it looks nicer and suits pakistanis more then sari does. i remember we couldnt stop laughing when we saw the doctor in AMC, she looked soo weird and out of place in her pseudo-sari like uniform, it was as if we were in the wrong country lol!.
Re: Sari--a question on petti coats
shalvar kameez might be more practical, but sarees definitely look better.
Re: Sari--a question on petti coats
get the stitched sari with the lining already sewed in.
Re: Sari–a question on petti coats
she prolly wasnt wearing it properly, because honestly it looks good when worn properly.
Shalwar kameez is the national dress but looks nowhere as good. And on top of that, the uniform will have a thick belt around the middle with a V dupatta tucked into the belt. It looks really blaah.
