I’ve been reading abour Sara Baig quite a bit in these threads - however, I’ve only heard of people getting quotes from her. I’ve looked through all her pictures on Facebook and those posted by SGC on GupShup. My question is, has anyone ever been to an event designed by her? All of the pictures seem to be of the small details like cards and flowers and centerpieces – how does the decor look in general? Is it nice? I’ve seen the stage pictures, and compared to Perfect Setting and Dream Decor, the stages are quite contemporary and simple (which I like!)
I absolutely love what I’ve seen in pictures. I have called her a couple times, (someone mentioned on this forum that she’s been busy with kids & all) I’ll give her a call again and perhaps will get to meet her soon and discuss logistics.
Sooo.. has anyone booked her? Have experience with her? Seen her work in real? How is she?
I actually don’t know how much she charges either - so if anyone could give me an idea, it’d be great
I was thinking of asking the same question, glad i found your post. I'm also thinking of contacting Sara Baig regarding my upcoming wedding decor, it's just that her facebook group and website don't have many wedding reception pics. In any case i will call her, but it would be great to hear from those who have worked with her.
oh, and one of her desi weddings is featured in the latest issue of Elegant Weddings which will be on newsstands in a couple of days so pick that up if you’d like to see her work! http://elegantwedding.ca/elegant-wedding/
I didn't get a chance to work with her. Was in talks and was under the assumption that the contract would be almost finalized, but then it fell through because she had someone else want her for wedding planning services as well for that day.
She charges around $1,550 or so for the stage. That's what she quoted me a couple months ago.
@SGC - Thank you SGC for the wedding reviews; I look forward to contacting her :) @flawedsoul - Thank you for the info, did the quote also include centerpieces?
^No that's just the quote for a regular sized stage. For centre pieces, it starts around $25 or $30 I think, but for rental. I'm forgetting exactly.
Just a lil tip - centre pieces can be so much cheaper if you do them on your own through wholesale...and can be really nice too! That's what I'm thinking of doing.
^ it depends on the kind of stage requested too, no? i would think the more elaborate the stage, the higher the price. i only had a stage at my mehendi and i paid $500 for it through midhu verma but this was 4 years ago. what is a reasonable price these days for a reception stage?
as an aside, i don't think anything as major as centerpieces should be diy'd unless they'e not fresh flowers and can be made a week ahead of time. the night before the wedding the last thing a bride should be doing is making her own centerpieces! there's sooo much else going on and so much more to think about. if you can find a cheaper florist or wholesaler to sell them to you fully assembled, that is the route you should be going, if your decorator's prices are not working with your budget.
^ Agreed. Most DIY centre pieces I've seen are NOT fresh flower centrepieces, unless it's just one or two bloom in a vase with water, or pebbles, or something simple along those lines. The other time they are DIY is when the bride is going for a "rustic" look, i.e., the flowers tend to be wild, mixed with lots of greens, unarranged and dropped into vases that are all different sizes and shapes. Although it is a lovely look, it is not one that Asian brides favour.
Also, they are HARD work, and unless you have an army of willing family members to help out it can be very stressful to deal with. Maybe someone can start a thread on good DIY centrepiece alternatives? It's not really my thing, so I haven't got many suggestions.
In regards to Sara Baig, I've seen her work to at two Bridalicious Events here in Toronto. She is definitely on the high-end spectrum as far as Asian Wedding Vendors are concerned, but that's because it's her niche. I would say that if you are looking for someone with an artistic sensibility, she is the designer for you. Also, she mentioned to me once that she is a architect by profession, so she has a wonderful eye for proportion, details and the overall "finished look" of your wedding.
May I also suggest A Perfect Setting? I've heard good things about her from all vendors who have worked with her, and I've liked her work that I've seen at weddings.
my sister used sara baig for decor, planning and day-of coordination and they were planning her wedding together for 9 months. in the end, she gave her exactly what she wanted and more.. even my parents were impressed and they are very hard to please lol. my sister wanted lots of flowers and candles and sara did a beautiful job. also, her stationary is awesome.. we had a chemistry/periodic table theme for the seating plan and the custom stationary really fit the colours and theme of the wedding.. her stationary definitely adds uniqueness to her weddings!
im surprised you guys find the stage expensive because i remember when my sister asked around, many vendors were quoting $3000 and up JUST for the stage!

Can you pls share/ PM me the pic. I be sure before contacting her
I have yet to book a meeting with her - been a little busy with school and work
-$1,500 is a good price for stage decor, but only if it’s very elaborate. Perfect Setting (Naphisha) is quoting around $1,700 for a fairly elaborate stage, and she’s a fab decor artist. The only thing is that I like Sara Baig better because her work is so decent and clean-cut - I’m not into the whole sparkles and over-the-top look. And considering the kind of work that I want on my stage, $1,500 would be on the high-end of my budget, however, I will speak to Sara and see what she says. Perhaps my quote will be lower fingers crossed
-As for the centerpiece DIY, I didn’t mean an actual DIY, I should have worded it better. In my opinion, you can get other deals. For example, I recently saw these crystal globe vases at a home decor store and they were $40 bucks each - which isn’t bad, because you can rent them out after the wedding! A lot of girls do this, so you actually end up investing at first but you get the money back later, which is so cost effective, considering that you won’t be decorating your home with those centerpieces afterwards.
I used Sara Baig for my wedding & was VERY pleased with her. She is great with communication, and as mentioned by AsiyaAainaBridal - she has a very creative eye. She's really easy to talk to - I had absolutely no trouble telling her my vision ...she understood me really well and did a flawless job on the decor.
