Saqlain Mushtaq' Future

 Hi Guys,
This is the first time I am posting something here altough I keep reading your interesting comments on various issues. I was just wondering about Saqi’s future and if we need him anymore in Pak team or not. I think Pakistan lacks a quality one day spinner. I know Malik and Afridi are doing a good job at the moment but I really miss him in the team and I remember the way he used to bowl in the dying overs. I think he always played with passion and pride and always performed to best of his ability. I remember him bowling Damien Martyn out on a duck with a doosra leaving Martyn clueless and getting Tendulkar stumped by Moin. I just want your views on this issue.

Re: Saqlain Mushtaq' Future

Saqlain was arguably one of the best offspiners in recent times, and though Murali may have outshone him lately, Saqlain would always be remembered a class act, a cut above the rest, especially in ODIs. Wasim Akram had the atmost trust in him, using him in the death overs, and Saqlain seldom disappointed.

But like everything that comes to an end, so did Saqi proabably a bit sooner than we all expected. Sadly the teesra's and the chothaa's were'nt a success in the nets, else we would have definetly seen a lot more from the bucktoothed wizard.

But fortunately Pakistan has always had a history of churning out quality spinners; and just like Mushi was'nt missed when his international career came to a premature end, the emergence of the Kaneria, Malik and Afridi has ensured that our spin department is in safe hands.

Re: Saqlain Mushtaq' Future

So you mean Saqi is gone??

Re: Saqlain Mushtaq’ Future

Well, he has undergone a surgery lately (knee surgery I guess) and right now he is in the process of a full recovery. It will take some time before he will be fully fit for the international cricket once again. I guess, he will start playing the county cricket for surrey very soon for this season. Despite all of his failures at international level, saqi has performed reasonably well in English county cricket for last couple of years. However, please keep in mind that saqi is a spent force. His real weapon doosara has been exposed long time ago and now he is a very ordinary bowler. Therefore, stop dreaming that’s saqi would ever make a comeback.. HE IS GONE…

Re: Saqlain Mushtaq' Future

I would love to see him back... not quite sure if it could work out though

Re: Saqlain Mushtaq' Future

Would love to see him back with a bang. He was (is) one of my all time fav !

Re: Saqlain Mushtaq' Future

Don't think he will comeback. He was an exceptional bowler when we was on top. Still remember his performace when pakistan won the thrilling match at cheenai. The guy use to bowl the the finals overs in ODI' and was often very effective.
Too bad for him and pakistan that australian and then other teams started reading him well and made him look like an ordinary spinner.
