Do we have anyone here who worked on SAP modules?

Re: SAP Jobs and fresher candidate

If you are in US contact any desi SAP head hunter they will guide you better. None of them are here.

Re: SAP Jobs and fresher candidate

mahool, do you have experience in SAP and looking for a job in a company or a fresh graduate with no SAP implementation experience. any training in SAP?

Re: SAP Jobs and fresher candidate

No SAP implementation experience but I do have training in SAP BOBJ, BW, and HANA.

Re: SAP Jobs and fresher candidate

Mahool, as Mirch said in US there are a ton of desi companies who are affiliated with training institutions as well. What they do is pick a person with some exposure with SAP, have him trained in a competitive module and then get him a job. Now for one year you'll give a good proportion of salary to them for all their efforts but after that you are free. I consider it an exploitation but its a win-win.

Re: SAP Jobs and fresher candidate

Ok... How do I know those companies?

Re: SAP Jobs and fresher candidate

So no hands on experience but have training. thats better than many who dont have either..and especially being a new grad, you have a leg up on competition most of whom have no experience or training..

my post is assuming you are in US and want to go in a consulting company. if not some of it may apply, some may not

you have 4 different routes

1- do what SID-NY suggested. it is not too difficult to get hired by these companies, they often advertise in desi newspapers. be ready to go anywhere in US and the pay is going to be not that great. But once you have one full lifecycle implementation done your avenues open up very quickly. these are small body shops really and often the projects they staff are not that great so u have to make sure what you are getting into your goal is to get the right experience as quick as possible and get out

2- look for SAP roles in major indian companies like Wipro, TCS, or the up and coming challengers like iGate etc. They will often have better projects/roles, have better reputation and may be an easier jump into Accenture or deloitte etc. Wipro/TCS etc dont get much love from locals, so you talking to them you will always have a good shot because they dont have to get you sponsored plus with local desi candidates the broader team does not get a shock and vice versa with Joe from iowa joining an team with mostly imported desi crew on temp work and H1 mix.

3- look for SAP roles in corporations, so less of an implementation role but you are in the SAP team for that company. especially if they have just installed the system or updated/added ... spending a year or 2 there can position you well for going to a major consulting firm as a rollout/post rollout specialist. They often struggle because people bail or would rather be doing consulting which pays more so are often tight on resources.

4- go full hung ho and try to get into SAP itself or one of the major integrators, there is a little bit of a resource shortage with the right training/skills so you may make it in that way too. especially if you are from one of the colleges they typically hire their entry level associates from
