US PAKIS always have something to moan about.....i hope we dont break into a jihad against topis now....
Everything is fine but what is up with the Auntie's dancing like they are at the actual event, that is a ackward celebration, unless their his relatives which would be understandable.
Since when did kashmiri women start wearing saris, that too 60 plus years ago? Dowri is not called "jahez" neither in Srinagar nor in SFO.
Upper class Pandit women started wearing sarees back in the 1920's-30's. Some young, wealthy Muslim women followed suit a few years later, and sarees came to be considered fashionable among the educated elite for a brief period. They started to fall out of favor after the Indians invaded and occupied the state, as people felt that they were a sign of Indian cultural imperialism...which is why they're now a rare site in Kashmir.
It's evident from your post that neither English nor Koshur is your first language, so I'm not even going to bother arguing about the rest of your post.
Sania wore the same red saree, which her mother wore at her own Nikah 25 years back. She is went for subtle make-up and Arabic mehndi. Shoaib is set to wore a Black sherwani designed by renowned designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil.

Thank you for the reply...Yes, Italian is my first language, I speak kashmiri with italian accent and english with kashmiri accent........if they started wearing saris in 1920's what did they wear before 1920's and 30's??? And what about the lower class pandit women???
BTW, what is the translation of "jahez" in kashmiri??? If you would be kind enough....please do let me know..

They wore a garment called a pheran. Do you know what that is? If I'm not mistaken they did not wear them with kasabas like Muslim women, and wore some other distinctive headgear instead. Ultimately, from what I've seen, it seems most Pandit women it seems switched over to wearing sarees and shalvar qameezes...few women in their community still wear traditional pherans.
I see no point in further derailing this thread with discussions of historic fashion trends among KPs.

Sania Mirza in her bridal finery and her mother’s 25-year-old red *sari *made a pretty picture at her nikaah with cricketer Shoaib Malik on Monday. But designers and stylists say the tennis star could have looked better on her big day. “It was a sweet gesture to wear her mother’s wedding sari. But the neckpiece wasn’t in sync with the gold work on her sari. Sania has a thing for loud make-up. It was no different at her nikaah,” says designer Nida Mahmood.
“The *sari *could have been draped better and the dupatta could have been done interestingly to enhance the overall look. And the golden clutch that Sania carried was so avoidable,” says designer Shaina NC. “The clutch was simply not happening. Even her jewellery — the neckpiece and the maang teeka — weren’t in sync and it all looked like a hurried job,” says celebrity stylist Ambika Pillai.
Sania’s loud red make-up seems to have garnered a big thumbs down too. Pillai adds, “When it comes to make-up, less is more for Sania. It was a day function and too much make-up looks garish.” Designer Rina Dhaka, too says, a simpler look would have worked better. “Sania is a pretty girl and a ‘natural’ look would have gone well,” she says. Designer Ritu Beri agrees, “Sania looked great. But better co-ordinated jewellery and lighter make up would have made her look more stunning.” Make up artist Mickey Contractor says, “Softer make up would have gone well. Her eyes looked too strong.” What?s with the clutch?- Hindustan Times
