Sangeet unplugged

What a wonderful show (I hope I got the name right). The Sahira (Kazmi) weaves her magic yet again with another classy production.

She’s just amazing, you could see the quality shining through. loved the show, love Sahira. did anyone notice how all three classical singers would ready to pounce on Najam Shiraz every time he would butt in with his howling. god, I wish they did.

Lastly a bit of a serious question for the more entertainment literate people. I think I finally might have found my passion. I love classy Pakistani dramas (as I’ve made obvious many times) and it pains me immensly to see them fritter away into a dying art form. I think at some point in my life, I’d like to carry on (or at least try to) the traditions of our great artists. So, I’d like to know what is the most logical way to get into Pakistani dramas in some sort of a capacity where I would be able to dictate the look and the direction of a drama. Are there institutes in Pakistan which can helpp me in my goals or do all our good directors get their degrees abroad? Any ideas, much appreciated. thanks guys.

sorry for being so stupid guys, but I’ve never given it a serious thought until now and hence my lack of knowledge.

no institutes, no coursework.

One way is to get an internship with a director and be on the sets when the drama is being made. There is an actress, Nausheen something, who said she's been working with a director for a couple of years and NOW she's ready to direct a drama of her own.

Go to some private production companies, and talk to them. They could give you some pointers.

As for writing scripts, just take writing classes. The devices used in writing Pak dramas (good ones) are no different than the ones used in English or American writing. Take some theatre classes. If there is an artist in you, it'll come out on its own.
