I dont think he has an ego. I admire him and seems to be a very good gentleman. More like he is a perfectionist and like to be the best in the job. He gives his 100%. In a professional sport people compete very hard and finding excuse that the other team played better hence won is just like conceding that you did not play good. He believes in the second interpretation. There is always scope for improvement. Rather than this attitude that if Pakistan plays good then they are screwed, it is always better to have an attitude like we did not play well and hence Pakistan won.

By all means have pride in your team but I think it is only proper to say a few words in praise of the opposing team esp. if they play better than you on a given day
