Hi, I purchased a saree today, and the woman told me not to wear sandals with beads/sequins on (i.e. asian sandals) because the thread of the saree will catch on them. She recommended plain sandals. However, I have a perfect matching pair of sandals I purchased last week for a different outfit, and would like to wear them with the saree. They have kaam on them, and about 3 inches heel. Are these okay with a saree, or should i stick with the shopkeepers advice?
2 things,
first, depends on your shoes if the kaam is like kora/chamki type, or crystals in metal casing the chances are that it will keep catching on to sari fabric which is very annoying(my first hand experience),
second, if you want to wear that long heel make sure you have the heels on while tying sari, because your sari should drap nicely all the way to the floor, not 3 inches above ground.

it has crystals in the metal casing, but they are quite small and hidden.. I tried on the saree just now, with the sandals on, and did some crazy moves to see if it would catch but it didnt.
and thanks for the second tip - i was wondering why people say put heels on before you tie your saree lol
LOL what crazy moves did you do? If the sari doesn't catch then just wear them especially when they sound perfectly matched! Don't worry about what the shopkeeper said!
I would hate it if my saree kept getting stuck to the beads of my shoes/sandals. If you're a tolerant person then go ahead and wear them. Personally, I wouldn't. How about wear the saree at home and walk with those sandals to see whether the shop keeper was right?
