Samsung Glaxy 7

I was thinking to buy S6.. now S7 will be in market.
Micro chip feature is back in S7… and S7 is water proof…

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

i have never understood the craze for samsung devices (and the iphone). The phone is exactly the same as S6. Yes there are some improvements under the hood but for a regular user those improvements wouldn't make much of a difference. not to mention the ugly touchwiz.

checkout G5 ... probably one of the best phone ever made ... or wait for couple of months. HTC and BlackBerry migh release their next android phone.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Right. Well, most consumers are just buying these devices because they're brand loyal. But there are a bunch of people who actually appreciate the improvements made by the manufacturer. Upgrades are just that. Similar but better than the last.

Touchwiz isn't THAT bad. I mean, it's better than iOS (please, hold the applause). But then again, what isn't? (ok, now applaud)

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Oh, also, i hated the S6 edge and edge+. So not really excited about the s7.

It’s water resistant, not water proof. Please don’t be scuba diving with your new mobile device.

Fast charging? :k:… Fashionably late to the party.
And the s7 is still only housing 3000 mAh. S7 edge offers 3600 mAh. So I guess fast charging was a good offer considering you’ll need to recharge… Often.

And still no removable back so no extended or interchangeable batteries. :nook:

Expandable memory? :k:… But why did you take it away in the first place?

And only 12 megapixel read camera? When everyone else in the game has been bettering their camera game, Samsung is happy just staying in its comfort zone. Right on! Way to not conform… Or something?

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

The reason that you are judging a phone camera by its megapixels has told me enough about your understanding of technology or phones. HTC M9 had 20MP camera but its camera sucked compared to Sumsung S6 16MP.

I don’t have problem with people appreciating the under the hood upgrades. I have problem when they only focus on one phone upgrade and don’t focus anywhere else. BlackBerry Priv had 3500mAH battery (more than any 5.5" smartphone) and no one would talk about it. But when samsung up their batter for S7 to 3000mAH everyeone starts “OMG … thats a huge update” …

TouchWiz isn’t bad ? Have you ever tried using HTC Sense ? If you really want to feel the premium software UI then try that and then you would know how much TouchWiz lack. Keep in mind, you are using TOUCH SCREEN device. not an old school windows computer where you have to click on buttons. The whol idea of touch is you can use gestures, swipes etc … yet people are stuck with “buttons” on samsung touchwiz.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Cameras are judged by power of lens no the resolution of image....

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

What is G5?

Pleaz nigga...

And generally, android crowd aside from the phonegeeks (or phoneeks) are basically the ones looking at the specs. It is like the same for cars where the speccees brag about HP, but don't know that torque and when it is delivered makes a difference in acceleration and HP is for top speed and here, it again matters when it is delivered. You also have to take into account the weight of the car and the fact that an AWD car would be quicker off the line because there would be less front wheel spin.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

meh. Another battery killer. OP do yourself a solid and get an iPhone you'll be happier if you just want a solid platform to use without needing to mess around with closing background processes because they're draining your battery from 100% to 30% within the hour since charge.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

I have both an iPhone 6S plus and a Note 4. I carry my Note 4 with me the most. You do the math.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Note 4… :hmmm:

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Yep. Note 5 was no good. They took away the sdcard slot. Waiting for Note 6 when hopefully they will put it back in like in S7.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Note 5 was so much faster than the Note 4. Irremovable back was an inconvenience but the wireless charging was good to have. The battery was an issue though, but i put in a different firmware and was getting 36 hrs out of the phone.

And then.... i dropped the phone and the LDC liquid spread all over the screen. To fix the screen they want $275 :(
So I'm back to my backup, Nexus 6. Might get another Note 5 till Note 6 comes out.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

I dont care much about the removeable back. I just needed extra storage.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

Don't have good experience with Note 2 and don't really need the stylus so meh..

I have an S7 due to the carrier I have. MicroSD card is important and from what I remember, you can a second SIM instead of microSD though not sure if it is supported in the US? S5 > S6 was a big jump, but S7 isn't that compelling if you don't want to go from S6. Aside from expandable storage, the phone's ergonomics are bad and while "critics" across the industry liked the glass back of S6 (better than S5 for sure), I hated it just like how I hated it on iPhone 4s as it cracked on me even with a case on. Finally, Samsung's fingerprint sensor is finally up to par to Apple's implementation.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

I have the same bad experience from the S series on samsung. Cant stand them. If they come back with expandable storage on Note 6, I am upgrading otherwise I will keep my note 4.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

What do you carry around on your phone?
You do know that SD card I/O is much slower than NAND, right? That's why manufacturer's don't want to leave speed to critic's interpretation

I used to have lots of audio-books and ISO's for which i needed the space. And then ofcourse leave all pics and videos on the device. But since everything gets uploaded to Google Photos i don't worry about the last bit.

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

has anyone upgraded to Lollipop yet?

I have had the update icon on my phone for a long time now, but I'm afraid to upgrade it because of the horrible reviews. but it's been about a year now, and I can't seem to find any recent reviews online

for reference, I have the Galaxy s5

Re: Samsung Glaxy 7

well, there is an inverse relationship to performance wrt how much storage you use on your phone.

I do agree that moving apps isn't worth it to an SD card unless you have those more expensive better class cards.

@aka: touchwhiz would be touchwhiz. I think that S5 might get 6.0 by the end of this year or you could root if you are up to it. This is why if you want the clean iPhone experience with regular updates, you stick to Nexus line as a starter. Of course, iPhone wins out as 4s that came years ago still gets updates unlike any android phone from that time. Nexus might come very close but otherwise, it is a mess with all the malware attacks that happen on the older (and even some newer) Android OSes.
