I really want to make cheese samosas. I was thinking I’d just put cheese into the samosa and call it a day, but I’m not sure what kind of cheese to use. Recommendations? And should I be adding something else to the filling too?
Re: Samosa filling
I used Cabot’s pepper jack cheese in Ramzan and they turned out yummy…more so than the mozzarella cheese samosas.
My mom adds mint leaf to the cheese…that’s it. You can make cheese n meat…or cheese n veggie samosay.
Re: Samosa filling
Thanks for the reply… do you think processed cheese will be ok?
Re: Samosa filling
Cheese on its own will just melt and separate the solids from the fat in the cheese, and probably start leaking out in the frying oil. I would say you want to mix the cheese with an equal quantity of mash potato or some mash beans or daal or mash vegies.
Re: Samosa filling
^ is right. i stay in kuwait, here we get readymade frozen cheese samosa’s since i wanted to try at home… i got the recipe for the filling from a kuwaiti friend. they never leak ![]()
500 gms low fat feta cheese, 250 gms low fat halloum or mozzarella cheese. half cup cheddar cheese. half teaspoon dried mint. dash of black pepper (optional).
i use regular samosa sheets from the market. and make mini samosa’s. the above filling makes around 12-15 mini samosa’s
