Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

In Pakistan I have eaten samosa chat with this orange/ red sweet sauce. Anyone know what I’m talking about? And what it’s made from?

^you can see a little bit of it in this picture.

thank you
~girl who’s dreaming of the perfect samosa chat atm.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

I think its imli chatni (tamarind sauce). Once you put the brownish/burgundy sauce over all the other ingredients, the colour becomes more reddish/orange.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

now can you answer a question for me.....what exactly is in Samosa chaat?

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

now i want samosa chat:(

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

:hayaa: you’re missing out in life.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

Samosa chaat is the best! :k:

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

I could be wrong, but I don’t the sauce you’re referring to is imli ki chutney. Imli ki chutney might be among the ingredients, but it’s not red/orange in color. What does come to mind is the sweety reddish chutney that’s drizzled atop gol guppay…and I’ve heard that it’s aloo bukharay ki chutney…so maybe that’s it? :hmmm:

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

It's imli. It's supposed to be brown though not orange or red.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

From what I've seen it's usually a potato samosa mashed up and then yogurt, green chilli chutney, chickpeas, aloo channay , sometimes fresh onions and coriander and boiled potatoes. and hten that imli sauce and chaat masala.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

its not imli ki chutney. Its alloo bukhara. If I am not wrong (I personally dont like it)

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

ohh interesting, aloo bukhara ki chutney. It's REALLY sweet, and not "cutti" like imli.

So to get that taste I put sweet and sour sauce on my samosa chat :/ kinda worked. but not the same.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

I've never heard of this aloo bukhara ki chutney...youse are lying!

Is it Urdustani or Punjabistani?

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

I'm Punjabi. But you've never seen the red chutney on top of gol guppay in Pak? It's reddish and it's sweet...not khatti like imli. Imli is one of the ingredients in chaats.....but if the OP is saying that the sauce is sweet....then I'm guessing it's aloo bukhara...cuz imli is sweet n sour.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

Mills we no lie, I believe RV is right.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

See how red that is? That’s what I’m talking about.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

I've never had gol guppay in Pakistan. In fact, I didnt eat anything but achar when I went to Pakistan.

I've still never heard of it :/

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

there is also khajur chatney which looks like imli chatney but is sweet in test, which is used in dahi bada.

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

The one in second pic is plum sauce

Re: Samosa Chat: The orange sauce

I assumed it was imli ki chutney but now that I think about it you are right its sweet so it must be aloo bhukara chutney.
