Re: Samira Said & Cheb Mami - youm wara youm

Good Song & Catchy tune, I like Arabic music even though I understand a single word of the language.

Try some of Alabina Songs, Here is one link - Unofficial Alabina Home Page - Audio Clips

How do you know Arabic? and are you fluent?

I'm not a big fan of music at all, Arabic music gives me such a headache, strange, but everytime I am somewhere where the music is Arabic I never stay long, I just can't stand it. If I ever listen to anything I perfer Malay naats, man I am a really strange Arab.

oh and as far as arabic music is concerned...i like some stuff selectively :) not everything...even for this song...i must've heard atleast 30 songs and i only liked this one out of all of 'em :D

wow thats cool, where did you live in the UAE, I visit there all the time?

I never speak Arabic the much only if I visit the Middle East. I read lots of Persian poetry and I can understand a lot now, and like you said I try very hard. With urdu I can speak it and understand what people say, however when it comes to poetry I can't seem to get it really fast, I guess my urdu just needs more time. But like when I watch Turkish TV or Farsi TV or Pakistani TV I can understand well, through TV is how I learned a few kurdish :D

wow so u truly are multi-lingual  that’s awesome MashaAllah :k:

and i know exaclty what u mean  arabic cartoons is what did it for me  captain majid in particular  and then i’d pay a lot of attention to reading as well…try to understand what i was reading, and just not read it repetitively like most non-arabs do :stuck_out_tongue: haven’t read anything for a while…so i just exercise it every fri when i go for Jummah prayers  cuz they alwayz have the khutba in both english and arabic

i lived in Al-Ain btw
