Same stories, new caste

Pakistani drama industry flourished. so many channels airing multiple dramas on daily basis. But most of viewers now started feeling (and conveying) that all these channels failed to bring something new. Saas bahoo, sisters falling in love with same person, love triangles are the issues our TV dramas are all about these days.

Do you feel same or you came across some projects recently with new story lines?

Upto 90s PTV, the only channel of Pakistan, was showing one drama a day and all the stories have something new to offer. They covered anti-narcotics, family planning and other subjects in convincing way. Do we lack topics or we don’t have writers having grip on the issues our society facing now?

What are the issues you want writers to highlight in their dramas?

These are the dramas I would like to watch
1.psychological issues based drama (that should cover almost everything like relationships, health issues, financial issues etc)
2.Saas bahu dramas with a positive message that there is no harm in living together peacefully :hehe:
3. A good romantic drama with decent dialogues (like dhoop kinary :p)

Re: Same stories, new caste

Are you married and live peacefully with a saas or if not, feel that way ? If so, very commendable. :k:

Aaj kal aisi laRkiyaan kahaan milti hain ? :bummer:

Shukriya :hat:
Someone (on GS) told me that they learn from starplus dramas and get useful tips from there like how to put a fake smile on your face when greeting your husband :hayaa:

If starplus dramas can do that why can’t we? Saas bahu k relation ko friendly dikhana pary ga :hbk:

Re: Same stories, new caste

I think friendly Saas-Bahoo has been shown in many projects including recent Shak. :bummer:

One more thing that I realised in new dramas they are one dimensional. Though almost every drama has tow-three tracks but the dimension remain same. Love, infidelity, divorce, halala in one drama. In yesteryears, romantic stories have some characters which could add to comic relief. Dhoop Kinare, Ankahi and Tanhaiyan revolve around romantic themes, but they got so many memorable characters like Mamoo, Timmy, Qabacha, Aapa Bi, Buqraat, Dr Irfan, Fazeelat, etc which were as popular as main lead. People who had no interest in romantic dialogues could also enjoy these dramas due to such characters. Today’s dramas run for 25-30 weeks, but they fail to produce characters like these.

So many flashbacks… unnecessary scenes having no value to the story and this trend of playing OST in background for 5-10 minutes in every episode is a disgusting commercial idea.

Re: Same stories, new caste

I want to see something like a woman can survive on her own, she don't need men to show to she is happy. in our dramas women is shown too much dependent.

Re: Same stories, new caste
