true, but its still doesnt mean they cant be good parents

dont get me wrong, i dont agree with same sex marriages or being gay, but i wouldnt condemn someone for being gay and deny them the upbringing of a child..
If it is acceptable to raise a child as gay then I guess you are right... they can be wonderful parents and provide the child with all materialistic needs but when it comes to morals I doubt their ability of being a good role model

^ yeah maybe they may not be a good role model for the child, but sometimes i think... how good of a model are parents of the same sex as well

i guess the best judge of all these actions is Allah Mian...

one question.. u know hijras are they different from gay people?

Oh Boy... that is a whole new discussion... Not necessarily...

hmm... yeah i was just thinking.. i actually feel sorry for them..

With all due disrespect.

Morals are relative, don't be so presumptous as to think yours are exclusively correct.

Absolutely correct and I have tried my best to base my discussions on Islamic values and guidelines.... that is the relevance that I had in mind

Who says that you have to bang someone to show your "Love", "Security", and "Care" ..... there are many other relationships in life where you want to make these attributes felt but you don't necessarily have to be sexual...
No, in this specific case it IS sexual. A man having sexual feeling for another man and cherish his love. It is none of your or anybody's business if a man has such feeling for another man. And it is definitely not dictatable by society or religion.

Hi...answer to SADZZ's question...!!

Hijras are GAYS...!! their nature is pretty much the same.."how so" becomes a question when we don't take in account the cultural differences....Gays(hijras) in India and Pakistan are not like the gays in western countries...You can't even tell the difference among straight men and gay men...that's because......they are JUST LIKE MEN..they actually let others know that they are gay..that's when we come to know "O YEAH no wonder why he acts weird sometimes..!!..."....unlikely, those gays in India and Pakistan..who dress completely like women, gays in western countries don't have any desire to dress like women...(may be they do..who knows)..!!

^ thanx :) i thought that hijras didnt really choose to be the way they are.. although gays can argue the same thing sooo hmm maybe my opionion isnt so relevant..

there are quite a lot of gay men in pakistan who are married with kids and have these other affairs on the side.. thaz why i thought hijras were different..

Dimagh_HotaToNa, There are also transvestite in US which can be considered similiar to Hijras in Pakistan.

It seems to me that most of you people don't understand the concept of "homosexuality" to begin with. That is why "it's is haram in Islam" kind of sentences is thrown around to avoid the responsibilty to know something before talking about it. I suggest doing a little research on Greek and Roman culture, as well as psychological and genetic aspects of the issue before talking on the issue. It is different when you don't know about something and disagree with it, vs when you know about something and disagree with it.

ANSWER TO SAHAR02's QUESTION....

THIS is up to the U.S. Government to pass the law that allows same-sex marriages...!! WHY? because if people could solve this problem without making it an issue then it wouldn't have become state's problem...since not all people are gays niether they are all straight...PEOPLE themselves can't resolve this problem...Government has to be involved.....but those of you..who think what does it have to do with politicians(like Bush, kerry...all candidates who are running)....It has "too much" to do with them....trust me!!..their opinions count and that's what gets them SOME VOTES to win the elections!!.....

Hope it's clear enough!!

hey Myshkin...

there are no right or wrong observations Myshkin ji.........I have done quiet a lof of research and TALKING (to gays) on this topic...and it's based on present situation and conditions. I don't know what happened in the History..and howsoever "gay thing" has evolved.............. I would rather be aware of what's happening now a days...than be aware of what happened wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy backkkkkkk in GREEK or ROMAN history....

Dimagh_HotaToNa:

Whether or not same-sex marriage is a "problem," is a question of religion and morality. If it doesn't threaten the lives and liberties of individual citizens, it shouldn't be a priority issue of the government -- especially one that is founded on the belief of a separation of church and state.

The intensity of the problem depends on the individual.

My personal view: If sexual relations between men have been forbidden in Islam, homosexuality and gay marriage are not permissible amonst Muslims and are considered wrong.

However
1) This nation has far too many real, pressing problems and injustices that should be resolved before its government worries about marriage between two men or between two women is legitimate.
2) Because I do not want someone else's religion dictating what I am allowed to do, I will not impose my own values and beliefs on others. I will make my beliefs known, and that is all. It is not my place to make decisions for others or tell them how to live their lives. It is disrespectful and condescending.

honey...we are about to have elections...many people's votes are JUST going to be based on whether or not they favor same sex marriages .,...this is one of the issues people are strongly looking at......the reason behind thisss..is ANOTHER AMENDMENT BEING ADDED TO THE CONSTITUTION...which is a big deal...

thanks for justifying your opinion...MAKES PERFECT SENSE...!!!

^ Right. And the amendment is being added to define marriage as between man and woman, therefore making same-sex marriages illegal. From what I understand of the issue right now, I am opposed to the amendment.

dont americans have better things to worry about?

sadzz....you really made me laugh..hahahah!!...i guess you are right.......Americanns don't have better things to do........they like to know what they can do about new WEIRD issues...and all they do is "THINK then PROTEST".............:)...in this case..very few people are protesting..(amazing na)...

^ im glad i put a smile on someones dial (how corny)

maybe they not protesting cus they simply cannot be bothered... there are innocent people dying across the globe.. maybe thats more of an interest or maybe they glued to the tv watching the pak/ind series... who knows?

protest offers nothing anymore

WEll....U.S added quiet a few amendments one after another about MARRIAGE, because it doesn't satisfy everyone..or doesn't apply to everyone's situation.........After civil war, The U.S. allowed African-americans to be married in all areas of the U.S (racial differences were hardcore issues back then among whites and african americans)...Then later on in 1967, mixed race couples were given permission to marry in all areas of the U.S ...BUTTTTT..until noww!! same sex couples could not marry anywhere in the world..!!...Only few states in U.S are allowing same sex couples to be married..!!!....since America is all about freedomm!! this freedom has led to many problems ....one of those issues is THIS!!..(Too much freedom na)...

Sadzz..i agree with youuuuu..!! absolutely..!!
