Shaiyanne Malik has showcased her label SamanZar’s formal collection entitled ‘Kama’. The SamanZar collection reflects the designer’s ode to love and through fashion, offers a plea to invoke a positive passion stronger than the current negativity.
‘Kama’ is also inspired by ancient and lost civilizations. Expect both women and men’s wear in a combination of conventional fabrics including silks and jamawars fused with unconventional fabrics like linen and raw cotton.

It was a beaming night and the upper stratum of the city of lights was eagerly waiting for Shaiyanne Malik’s fashion show to get started at the Karachi Golf Club. This time around, she has come up with yet another formal and bridal collection, the varied form of attires. The show started with the models sashaying down the ramp to the melodious tune in the exquisitely designed bridal wears. The first striking thing for me was the choice of colours for the creations. The elegant and eye-catching colour palette was like a treat to the eyes.Shaiyanne seems to be greatly inspired by our own culture and heritage. This time also she takes inspiration from the forgotten civilisation.“I started the collection with pure cotton fabric fused with French lame. Then I went on to pure chiffons mixed with cotton and jute and ended with pure chiffon jamawars for the bridals,” she said about the fabrics she used to design her creations.Shaiyanne lets the fabric flow without restraint. “I let the fabric guide me in the drape and cut, fabric actually speaks to me dictating the shape it wants to take and that’s exactly what happened. The final cut was voluminous and free flowing,” the designer said. For the bridals, she had focused on incorporating a lot of bling coupled with a classy silhouette. Long, layered, embroidered shirts teamed up with intricately embroidered lehngas, ajars and culottes gave this collection an inimitable look. She also included halter necks with embroidered lehngas to complement the elaborate outfits. The traditional yet stylish jewellery gave this chic collection, a cultural dimension. The models had been decked to perfection by Tina and Leena. All in all, it was a show of Shiayanne’s brilliance and her artistry as a contemporary designer.
