hmmm its not that they are upset that after being called bhai they have lost a chance with some girl, but that now as a bhai they are now culturally expected to watch out for the interests of one more behen, who sometimes is more trouble than they thought.

It appears that when girls calling them bhai, they are trying to pass a message that “my intentions are very clean” or something like that
Sometime its nothing but plain offensive to the guy. Really sometime there is no need.
I wantched Anwar Maqsood interviewing Mustafa Khar and they were talking about Noor JahaN. Khar said that we were very close, Mainay un ko behen banaya hoo’aa tha.
Maqsood said, very seriously, ‘jee yeah kehnay kee koee zaroorat nahiN’. What he meant that what are you trying to prove without even us asking.
Its the same thing with girls. What is the need?

Tariq there are many reasons, one I can think of is that lets say a girl n a guy are good frens and they r jokin around but ppl around them mind not understand the relationship these two fellows have - especially among desis. When they see such thing they tend to go OOOoOoOoOoo kya chakr hai and then larki majboorun goes, " yaar bhai ki tarha hai"
OR
sometimes girls to think of the particular guy as a bro and with respect they call em bhai.

No No Evil... I was refering to real life incidents.
You can call me bhai or whatever. SOmetime girls do that out of age difference as I can call someone who is older, Baji, but not with the intention to pass any message
About machli forum, that was a different case. Hareem took that way too seriously

The reason a girl would try to pass a message when she feels that she is gettin hit on or something - I understand even though guy's intention wont be no where close ot it but if she felt it then she tried to convey her side of the story.
