Salad is different in that it's not saucy. Raita is different in that it's yogurt-based and rather too saucy. Salsa is in-between the two, texture wise. It's chunky and slightly saucy at the same time. The base of the salsa is tomato.
Recipe I make:
1 ripe tomato
1 onion
1 jalepeno (or more depending on how spicy you want it)
handful of fresh cilantro
salt and pepper
squeeze of lemon juice
Just quickly chop all ingredients in a food processor - to your desired consistency. I like my salsa more on the chunky side.
