Whats the difference between a cheap salon and an expensive one? Like why would one charge $100 just for a haircut (blowdry and wash extra) and antoher $30 (everything included)? I mean other than location/rent..
Quality wise, I’ve paid $300 for highlights and i’ve paid $75 to get em done froM Jackson Heights and quite frankly I think the latter did a better job IMO. Today, I just paid less than 30 for an amazing haircut and blowdry at a spanish salon in the 'hood and it looks incredibly hottt , if i had gone to Manattan 'm pretty sure i’d’ve paid twice as much just for the cut..
So what gives, are the expensive ones “better” trained and use higher quality products or what? :halo:
the experience and standard of training the staff have
the products used
the location
the reputation
and probably other stuff too that I've forgotten.
I think she pretty much covered it. The #1 reason for the price difference is the experience and standard of training the staff have. Expensive salon's are also more "professional", worry more about their reputation, and as a result, will do everything in their power to make sure you're satisfied. In my personal experience, "cheaper" salon's aren't as concerned about their reputation. The people are there to just "do their job".
Going to an expensive salon doesn't guarantee a "great" haircut, but it does increase the chances of getting a "great" haircut dramatically.
The hairdressers at cheaper salons strive for excellence whilst the ones working under glorified names really lack the dedication and motivation required to strive justifyably because they believe, they have achieved all if not most working in the priviledged top salon.
Even though i've had decent experiences at cheaper salons, i just hated dealing with the people and the location... they were just really rude and *****y and stingy (shortchanged me and took my money as a tip)..
*LOL.....yea same here. Bottom line is, you're paying for the "experience" and that "I know u'r paying a lot of $ for this and I will kiss your a$$ for that" attitude at the upscale salons. Kind of like the difference b/t the cashiers at Wal-mart and the cashiers at Saks. They're both cashiers....but with most of them, there's a world of difference in the level of service they provide. *
I always tip them, usually its only $1 lol but i hate when they ask..like this indian parlor, the lady did a ****ty job and then she held out her handand said “tip is extra”..stupid ..grrr
I had a really bad experience when I switched from my usual hairdressers and went to this (much cheaper) Morroccan salon cos I couldn't get an appointment at the time I wanted
I only asked for a blowdry and the woman totally screwed it up - it looked like a big fluffy afro
When I complained that it wasn't what I asked for, she ran straightners through it and rectified it somewhat and then the manager had the cheek to try and charge me extra cos she'd had to use straighteners!!
I refused to pay any extra cos:
a) she messed up in the first place
b) she should have told me I would get charged extra before using the straighteners
Then the dude actually snatched my handbag off me and demanded I pay!!!!!!!
I went ballistic and started shouting at him until all the other customers starting looking and were horrified by what he'd done
When he realised how stupid he looked - he gave me my bag back and I stormed out.
I reported the salon to Trading Standards and I found out they'd had loads of complaints about them before and the salon has since closed.
But after that I stick to my regular place, I don't mind that they cost more but they know me, know what I want and I get really fantastic service in the bargain :)
yah i dun like how my blowout didn’t stay for tooo long.. i got it done froM JH once and it was soooooooooooooo shny and silky and it stayed that way for 2 days..this one was dead hte nxt day
I usually go to the 'top' salons for most stuff.....but I draw the line at having to pay £30 to have my eyebrows threaded so I detour via the asian areas on the way home and get them threaded for £3.
And I don't mind tipping at cheap places cos I figure they don't make as much profit anyway whereas the top salons already charge so much.
