Salman Ahmad has recently played an instrumental role in Junaid Jamshed’s decision to come back to music after Junaid had publicly denounced it
under pressure from the tableeghi jamaat.Salman
has also gone a step forwards and challenged all Islamic scholars to prove that music is haram in Islam. In a statement thursday Salman said “I want to put an end to the hypocrisy and innuendo that plagues popular Muslim thought on music’s status in Islam.I after having consulted Ulema and having done independant research using the Quran, verifiable Hadith and historical views by respected Islamic scholars like IMAM GHAZZALI have come to the conclusion that there is no Islamic decree which has ever said that Music is haram in Islam.Islam is a religion of reason and justice, therefore I’m prepared to challenge anyone to prove Music’s prohibition in Islam in a court of Islamic jurisprudence. My intention is to prove once and for all that music or musical instruments like any other creative vehicle are not inherently evil or unislamic.Unfortunately Lack of Islamic knowlege amongst Muslims has led to a culture of slander, ignorance and unnecessary hypocrisy.Allah has blessed me with many things and I’m most thankful to Him for the gift of music.I completely detest the hypocrisy of those who continue to call music haram yet still listen to it and earn their living from it.I solemnly swear In the name of Allah that if any person or persons proves, in an internationally recognised court of Islamic law, that Music is haram,I,Salman Ahmad, will immediately quit playing, performing or creating Music.”

Interesting! Hadith is the keyword here because there are a lot of ahadith which prohibit us from indulging ourselves in music. If not completely declaring it haram, there are some ahadith which clearly state that certain instruments should be used at all. Scholars, muftis, etc. should not have any problems with this so called challenge.

I thought Junaid quit becuz some kids from a madrasa came up to him and told him that he inspired them so much that they’ve decided to quit learning quran and start making music
and so this jolted junaid’s consoncious (sp?) and he declared that he’ll inspire more people through his islamic preaching than he ever did with his music..so i dont know which version of the story to believe.
well Junaid is now making a foool out of himself, n i guess the religion tooo, well i dont knw tht music is haram or not, but then again Junaid commenting time after time that he is gonna leave music and i dont knw whts he doing, cant he think for himself!
well i knw some cases in frnt of eyes in which he has taken bahana of going to jamats and the similar nite he is performing too, this is back when he was a partner with the KC[Kurta Corner]
guys ..give junaid a break..the guy is confused, he was contemplating whether to leave music or not and considering how dear music is for him its not easy at all to abandon music infact I admire him even more for putting religion as the number one priority. He is still young, a great singer and above all very dedicated to Islam, way to go junaid
Brother I do agree that like many of us he too is confused between music and religion. But he should realise that his decisions can inspire many people's thoughts and beliefs. I think he should take some time out and really sort out things.
I agree with you that it can inspire a lot of people! But in the same time it can also take people away from Islam.
As such extreme points of view such as such an innocent thing as music being haraam can be very unattractive to people. Especailly the non believers my friend.
I think Junaid knows whatever is best for him. I am sure he left music because he thought there was something wrong with it and came back because he might have seen something in there. He is liable for his own "aamaals" to Allah and not us.
So if he has come to be back. Lets support his decission! May Allah show him and us all the right path!
