Salman Butt - a new star on the rise?

I see Chacha Bob likes the look of this kid. I remember watching a brief innings against Bangladesh and he looked a talented lad. I’d need to see how he fares against the big boys but interesting that the new coach also liked what he saw. I hope he gets a game in this tournament and isn’t discarded without getting a run like last time.

Actually his domestic record isn't exactly spectacular.

M I NO Runs HS Ave 100 50 Ct St
22 39 3 1300 137 36.11 4 5 8 0

But he is young and I am all for giving him a chance. Just hope we don't have another Junaid Zia on our hands.

He came to the fore by scoring a triple ton / double ton (correct me if i m wrong) in the tour to south african academy. Surely one for the future.

he is definitely a very talented player :k:

It's hard to guage a player in a brief knock and talent by itself is meaningless without other attributes (Imran Nazir anyone?) But Salman is one of those effortless stroke players who look like they have all the time in the world. Whteher that can translate into anything at the top level is what will be interesting.

ahem same could be said about Junaid Zia as well. he did not get a genuine chance to show off. It is hard indeed to gauge a talent in spur of a moment. On papa's advice its good to see Junaid keeping a low profile, cause of too much traffic of IN's & OUT's, time is not ripe for him or never will be.

The Game Responds:

*Salman Butt deserved a chance fully; he went through all levels from Under 19 to First Class Cricket to the A Team. Everyone has heard good things about him; hopefully he can deliver the goods. People, That Is All.*

he did get 2 play 4 matches in a row i think, n he did absolutely nothing that would make any one feel that he belongs at the international level. he's just not gd enuf...
