Salman and team got a rude shock in London

Going by the dismal fate of the latest Rock Stars concert abroad, it may be a long time before any organiser or Bollywood celebrity dares venture into a world tour.

The last stop for the Rock Stars entourage - Salman Khan, John Abraham, Mallika Sherawat, Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor - last week turned out to be a nightmare that the stars aren’t likely to forget.

“There was almost nil attendance,” a source told IANS.

“The show at Wembley in London had to be cancelled because there was hardly anyone there to see our so-called Rock Stars. In all, 500-600 people turned up to watch our great entourage. You should have seen the expression on their faces.

“On the evening before at Birmingham the attendance was hardly any better. There were around 1,500 people in all,” the source added.

“Fortunately, the show at Birmingham didn’t have to be cancelled. But what happened at Wembley has sobered and cautioned our entire Bollywood fraternity. I don’t think the stars are likely to go on concert tours for a long, long time to come.”

The worst blow was yet to come. Sahara India had acquired TV filming rights of the cancelled concert.

“Their expensive equipment and large crew had to return without any footage. There’s a lot of financial accounting to be done. The organisers haven’t even started counting their losses in Britain as yet,” said the source.

So is it a no-no for Bollywood concerts abroad’

“For others stars’ Yes, they are unlikely to go for a long time after this experience,” said the source. “But if it’s a concert featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai, tickets will sell like hot cakes anytime.

“Salman and John returned to Mumbai Monday. Shahid and Kareena are expected back later during the week”.

:rotfl:500? bicharay rock stars! sab salman ki galtee hai. he shoulda never killed that reindeer.

seriously though…do they think the public is nuts? i mean the front row tickets were like $1200 when i asked. and row 30 was $300! even i wouldnt pay more than 100 to see john. mallika sherwat can be seen for much less with much less clothes on in Bach ke rehna re baba. aur salman khan tou buddha ho raha hai.

Re: Salman and team got a rude shock in London

i think these concerts have been overdone… public ab pagal nahi hai in actors ke liye…

Re: Salman and team got a rude shock in London

:hehe: Becharay.

We now have sooo many cable/satellite channels, we see them all the time. Why woulds any1 want to waste money on watching them live?

Re: Salman and team got a rude shock in London

This is hilarious.

I am not convinced about this whole concept of actors performing in a stage show. Actors job, IMO, is to perform in a play or a movie or a drama. Thats where their value is. I have never seen a show with live actors, so no first hand knowledge, however, some of the people I know rave about it. For me having a bunch of actors dancing on the stage and lip-syncing on a song is no fun. On the other hand, I'd be much more inclined to pay for and enjoy live performance by a good singer. The entertainment value of having a good singer singing live in front of you is definitely much more, though naturally the ticket prices have to be reasonable.

Re: Salman and team got a rude shock in London

I guess there is a shortage of the teeny bopper girls and seemingly normal college girls who used to go crazy for bollywood actors.

My view is that its overdone, as khawateen also noted, too many of the damn shows. eventually supply bcomes higher than demand

Re: Salman and team got a rude shock in London

100% Agree with Faisal bhai.

I am really happy about whatever happened in London. First of all these kinds of show is too expensive for a fake so called “Performance” show. It’s really worthy if you are watching any singer or comedian performing live . But actors… :halo: . Totally wastage of time and money IMO.

Re: Salman and team got a rude shock in London

yea all they do is dance(some can't even do that well:D ) and lip sync to music, i never felt like paying so much for just that.
