Recently Salman bhayee has been ridiculed on the fact that he will be performing in a fund raiser for the 9 11 victims. Many fans of his ( including me ) critisized on the fact that pehlay Pakistan kay liye fund ikathay karr lo then American kay liye. I mean there isnt any justification of the killings on 9 11. Lekin Pakistan main bhi kaafi problems hay…
uniya and others I understand your sentiments but I certainly don’t agree with them…Remember I don’t live in Beverly hills, but in Karachi a city so torn
by sectarian/ethnic/political violence that seeing the violence, death and carnage in karachi inspired a song called “ILTIJA”.Watching misery on literally my doorstep day in and day out hasn’t made me cynical or pessimistic. It’s fired up my spirit
to combat hate, bigotry and fanaticism.Junoon’s small gesture of doing a fundraiser isn’t about raising money it’s about SHOWING COMPASSION TOWARDS THE
AMERICAN PEOPLE,most of whom are pretty decent human beings (LIKE BRIAN).It’s true that we who belong to the Muslim world
have genuine grievences over some of the U.S.'s foreign policy decisions concerning Palestine,Bosnia,Afghanistan,Pakistan, saudi arabia and others but these grievances
ARE AGAINST THE U.S. ADMINISTRATION NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.The people killed
in this barbaric act were innocent men, women and children.IT IS UNISLAMIC
AND GOES AGAINST ALL THE TEACHINGS OF OUR PROPHET (PBUH)TO COMMIT SUCH AN EVIL CRIME.At a time when an ignorant western society is blaming muslims and Islam
don’t you think it’s our duty to some how bridge the gap between Islam and the west?I’m not asking you to divert your college funds to this fundraiser,I’m just
appealing for some compassion for humanity, the same compassion you and I would
show when muslims in palestine, kashmir, chechnya and bosnia were being slaughtered.I read so many postings on the forum in which the Quran or some hadith is quoted.Well this is the time to put theory into action.Being a good muslim means being compassionate like the
Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)was when dealing with a tribal woman from the quraish. This woman was openly hostile to the Prophet(pbuh),she would pour her hate and anger
by abusing him, throwing litter and garbage at him when he would pass near the street where she lived. You all know how the Last Prophet responded…
when one day there were no insults,no garbage being hurled at him,He was curious
as to why she had stopped the curses and was informed that the woman was ill…
Muhammad(pbuh) immediately went to her house to ask about her health and melted this cold woman’s heart by his good nature. Is life today any more desperate then it was 1400 years ago.In that time there were only a few hundred muslims who followed the example of Muhammad and together they represented the whole of Islam.Even then our Prophet(pbuh) never told them to take the lives of
men, women and children for self preservation.Today the Muslim community
is the fastest growing religious community in the world, but if it is to be a guiding light for mankind we have to adopt our prophet’s message of compassion and mercy for all people of the world not just our own.
Has Salman Bhayeeeeeeee ever done a fund raising concert for the starving kids in Iraq, or the dying babies in Afghanistan, or the displaced families in Palestine? How about doing a concert to SHOW COMPASSION FOR THEM? ever done that?
Many an attempts have been made by others to
"bridge the gap", and fact of the matter is, when it comes to the west, its virtually impossible for us to battle the centuries old stereotypes that bask in the western psyche. Salman Bhayeeeee wont be the first one to attempt to close up this gap. Others have tried, and failed...not because of their lackluster attempts, but because of the null effect it has on the western mindset. So Salman Bhayeeeee....folks do have a point. You have the ability to rally people behind you. YOu have the ability to earn money. Use that ability in a cause where it will be appreciated. You are using it in a cause that will be largely ignored and wasted. The money that you send to the WTC affectees combined with your compassion, combined with your opposition to American policies is going to result in squat. Keep in mind, an arab prince recently gave the NY mayor a $10 million donation, combined with the same 'compassion, and opposition to american policies'. That check was returned. So while your may be accepted, it certainly wont change the mindset of the west. Save it.

After the 24 October U.N. day concert in New York in which Junoon, Euphoria, Morten Harket and possibly Bono of U2 will participate, Junoon will be performing at a charity fundraiser for the victims of the 11 September terrorist attacks in the US, and for victims of the fallout of possible attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Ali_R....Afghanis have been suffering for the past 3 years under UN sanctions, and for 20 years before that from war. Iraqis have been suffering for 11 years under sanctions. Why didnt Salman Bhayeeeeeeee use any previous opportunities? Why did it take a September 11 for him to come forward, and lump along Afghanistan with WTC? Its all politics my friend....nothing to do with compassion.
Compassion has to be done at the right place at the right time.....not at an opportunistic place and an opportunistic time.
Alibeta, I was one of the first one who critised him on this charity concert on their forum.. he wrote that respond....Dont get me wrong I am a great fan of Junoon and would allways be a fan of their music..but I thought wierd, they are running to do a concert for the NY victoms where as other ppl all around the world are starving. Well its their choice and it seems they want to show their sympathy for the NY crises. Okay with me but just to let you know that the tickets costs $500 each.
I find no base for criticism on Junoon for this concert. And questions like why not then why now make no sense. You can only act when something happens and thats the time to do it. I doubt Afghanis would have taken the money raised for them by someone related to music, and as for the Iraqis, Salman didn't hold that stature that he holds now.
Theres no bridging the gap and stuff, but the fact that Junoon will be playing the role of ambassador of Pakistan, strengthening the cause of Pakistan and that is appreciable.

Akif I know what is weighin on your mind. And I totally agree with this, but at least they are doing something for both. At least they have realized it now. It’s never to late
Secondly look at all American Music Stars. No one is performing a fund raising concert. So at least they showed heart and we should be thankful to them.
Don’t forget that there are very few people of our own who donate to charity.
First we should change ourselves, before criticizing others.
Alibeta--I asked a question in similar terms at that junoon site about SA bringing his then-'new' title (UN AIds rep.) to a good cause. Naturally, there wasn't a fundamental reply, which I had expected.
Yes, the passion for music might be there, but I think it has been mixed with a pure desire for fame too. These people are plain hypocrites.
Americans don't need their money, there are plenty of poorer countries in Africa and Asia that need it more.
If Salman wants world peace - and we all would like it - he should organise a concert of protest against the development of weapons of mass destruction including bunker busters and cluster bombs which are landing on that country next door.
