Salman Ahmad of Junooni speaks about his new Debut Solo Album “Infiniti”

Salman Ahmad, who is currently on Junoon’s 2005 Infinity/Social Circus tour in Pakistan issued a statement through his PR Firm, Omni Muzik, today about his new Debut Solo Album “Infiniti”. He explained the rationale behind the name of the album, the feelings that the music evokes, and the message he wishes to deliver through its rhythms and lyrics. He also reiterated his commitment to keeping the Junoon band together.

Here is the text of what Salman said:

“The title Infiniti has to do with us humans living a paradoxical life. We limit ourselves in relationships on the basis of materialism, power and a narrow vision of love and life. We think our skin, bones, hair, winnings, losses or our guitar riffs, define us. The irony is that

we’re infinite beings who are here on earth for a short journey. Our imagination is unlimited and our power to change our environment is immense.

Most of the music deals with the fallout of interpersonal relationships/living in a polarized world and trying to straddle the east-west divide. The music on Infiniti is a continuous search for beauty and truth, and a yearning to communicate with people a message of hope and freedom amongst the chaos. In fact, hope and despair coexist in the music on this album

Junooni is my parallel persona to our mother ship Junoon. It’s me living in a new creative environment, playing with ninja musicians and dear friends John Alec, Jay Dittamo and my old percussion sparring partner Ashiq Ali Mir. While living in New York for the last three years, I’ve felt a new hunger and energy within me. I’ve got symphonies playing in my head. I’m musically BORN AGAIN!

Infiniti is a guitar-based album. It’s a lot heavier than some of the more recent music of Junoon. I’m trying to break down preconceived notions of what an artist should be labeled as. Passion and truth speak through all sounds, all words and all masks.

I HOPE YOU LOVE LISTENING TO INFINITI AS MUCH AS I’VE ENJOYED MAKING IT WITH SUPER MUSICIANS AND HUMAN BEINGS.

P.S. THERE’S A SECRET VOCAL MESSAGE ON THE ALBUM IN ONE OF THE SONGS. IT’LL SHINE A LIGHT ON WHAT’S HAPPENING IN MY HEAD…

PEACE

JUNOONI

PPS: For all those people who keep predicting the end of Junoon, DREAM ON!!! I said it in much more colorful language at the Karachi concert the other night. “JUNOON will always live on, Inshallah!”

INFINITI IS A TIME OF PERSONAL MUSICAL GROWTH AFTER MANY YEARS OF BEING ON THE BAND TREADMILL. I THINK BOTH ALI AND I DESERVE A LITTLE INDULGENCE,

DON’T U THINK?

Re: Salman Ahmed - Junooni - Infiniti

Way to go Salman Ahmed!! I can't wait for the album. I believe it's being released on July 1st!!...

Yeah yeah..he is terrible at singing yet you guys will still be listening to his songs :p

In my opinion he is a decent singer and have improved his vocals a lot. My fav song of his is balama which I think is the most underrated song of the album Deewar.

Re: Salman Ahmed - Junooni - Infiniti

I have heard the song courtesy of Spock and Salman's PR mgr Erfan and have to say the song kicks some serious butt. Salman has shown yet once again why he is a legend in contemporary Pakistani Music.

the album is not in stores yet but exclusively available thru Omni Muzik.

I will post info on how to order here for y'all unless pock beats me to the punch.

Re: Salman Ahmed - Junooni - Infiniti

Music sounds good from the promo. :k:

Re: Salman Ahmed - Junooni - Infiniti

Its a catchy tune with some techno influence. Prolly looking to fullfill the growing demand for club/dance mixes.

The arrangments are similar to one of the Parvaaz song. Bulleyah or another one.

Gotta listen to his singing first to rate the whole thing.

Looking good from promo :k:

Re: Salman Ahmed - Junooni - Infiniti

Yeah baby yeah!!! Salman has always been the most talented in the Junoon band…:k:

Re: Salman Ahmed - Junooni - Infiniti

The song is awesome, while it has some influence from prior junoon musc, there is enough introduction of new things in there to make it really refreshing. To innovate and experiment while stasying true to the music is a hard thing to do, Salman has shown that he can do it, once again.

I have placed my order already and will be listening to the album in a day or 2.
