revisionists of any stripe who try to fashion the religion in their own image and then become activists for it need to be put in their respective places.
whether that is the wahhabies at one end of the spectrum or people like salman ahmed or irshad manji at the other.
at the very least he should realise that if he is sick of people defining Islam, then many can also be sick of him defining and redefining and re-explaining Islam

personally, i haven’t met any muslim ever who defends Islam.

I don't think Islam needs any defining. It's not a formula, or a fashion statement that revolves around a certain dress code, or even a system of governance that can somehow be described and enveloped by a few words. Islam is a way of life. Quran is its definition.
