Salman Ahmad has recently played an instrumental role in Junaid Jamshed’s decision to come back to music after Junaid had publicly denounced it
under pressure from the tableeghi jamaat.Salman
has also gone a step forwards and challenged all Islamic scholars to prove that music is haram in Islam. In a statement thursday Salman said “I want to put an end to the hypocrisy and innuendo that plagues popular Muslim thought on music’s status in Islam.I after having consulted Ulema and having done independant research using the Quran, verifiable Hadith and historical views by respected Islamic scholars like IMAM GHAZZALI have come to the conclusion that there is no Islamic decree which has ever said that Music is haram in Islam.Islam is a religion of reason and justice, therefore I’m prepared to challenge anyone to prove Music’s prohibition in Islam in a court of Islamic jurisprudence. My intention is to prove once and for all that music or musical instruments like any other creative vehicle are not inherently evil or unislamic.Unfortunately Lack of Islamic knowlege amongst Muslims has led to a culture of slander, ignorance and unnecessary hypocrisy.Allah has blessed me with many things and I’m most thankful to Him for the gift of music.I completely detest the hypocrisy of those who continue to call music haram yet still listen to it and earn their living from it.I solemnly swear In the name of Allah that if any person or persons proves, in an internationally recognised court of Islamic law, that Music is haram,I,Salman Ahmad, will immediately quit playing, performing or creating Music.”

I am not a big fan of janoon but I do have respect for Salman bhayee for all he has done in his career. It would be nice if Salman bhayee quotes some verses from Quran and proves his case rather than going for yet another publicity stunt.
I hate to see religion being dragged into such things. I have never seen Britney spears behn or madonna baji defending or explaining chrisitanity.
i have just lost all the respect i had for salman ahmed.
Pyaar Bhi Zindagi Ki Tarah Hota Hay.
Hur Mor Asan Nahin Hota, Hur Mor Pay Khushi Nahin Milti;
Pur Jub Hum Zindagi Ka Saath Nahin Chortay To Pyaar Ka Saath Kyon Chorayn
i agree to the post up there - muslim is not haraam at all.
its only badly worded music (ahem ahem JayZ, Warrior of Allah!) and visually haraami music videos (again Jay Z, Warrior!)
You dont need a verse to prove that Islam prohibits music. There just aren't such verses in the Quran, from my knowledge, so that absense of verses would prove S. Ahmed's conjecture to be true.
To the person who started this post and from someone who has worked in the MUSIC industry and is also a muslim i'd like to answer to your query.
Music is not haram. You are correct.
Music breeds hypocrisy in the heart. correct.
The above line is from a hadith and THIS is the reason why it clashes with Islam.
I listen to music but a great deal less than when i used to and to be honest im trying to phase it out. Its very hard though and your correct it isnt haram. But it DOES breed hypocrisy in the heart.
I can verify this.
Im trying to read more namaz.
Im trying to do more zikhr to allah.
Im trying to follow the right paths of the Sunnah even if they are small changes to my life ( you start on small then think big yeh?).
However every time i have a dance CD on or indian/pakistani/any music playing the influence of the above moves away and instantly i start thinking of having a good time, then parties.
Then clubs.
Then girls.
Then drink.
Then adultery.
Then fornication.
Now before i listened to music the other thoughts was in my head.
Now after listening to music these thoughts enter.
Do you see now why it isnt recommended?
Ive stopped nearyl all of the above listed, but havent quite given up on music. even though i dont collect it no more and have severed all my contacts with DJs and club promoters.
Inshallah we will all see the light...
