What happened to this person? I saw him 10 years ago and he was all tidy and sensible .

since u saw him he has been noted by UN as someone who is doing great work globally. He has tackled issues our musicians, media, dramas and all are scared to address. He has talked about peace, he has worked towards better understading between people. whether or not you agree with his views is a whole different discussion, but he has walked the walk and not just talked the talk.

He evolved from what he was 10-15-20 years ago. He became bigger than just a musician..

hmm....seen his work. He's portraying Islam in a very negative and wrong way to the west. Surely Music is a big fitnah of this day and age.

well he was here last year and Arab Muslim community in California gave him an award because of his work.
He talked pretty good.

As I said earlier "whether or not you agree with his views is a whole different issue" .... so lets not get into that.

the fact remains that he has done amazing work and has been noted for it by numerous organisations and groups.

Thanks 5abi, I was planning on coming but I went to the Chicago one a week before! Here is the latest email I got from Salman about his upcoming projects:

There were 3000 old and new rocking Junoonis at the Old fort in New Delhi and it was done to support “EHSAAS”
a breast cancer foundation.Next I’m going to be coming with Pandit Samir Chatterjee (Tabla maestro)
to perform an unplugged concert in Karachi on march 23rd.This is for the Madadgar NGO of Pakistan,an organisation dedicated to helping abuse against women and children in Pakistan.i hope you can attend my show.I also recetly played in Chicago and Los Angeles (www.Junoon.com)
After Pakistan, I’ll be leaving immediately for Oxford to perform at the Skoll foundation annual awards.(Jeff skoll is a Hollywood producer whose company has produced two oscar winning films Syrriana and Inconvenient Truth)
Another very cool thing thats happening is my artist in residency at Queens College.I’m the first Pakistani/muslim to teach Islamic music at New York’s prestigious Queens college this spring semester .i have a class filled with music majors and the 50 students are from the U.S.,Pakistan,India,Bangladesh,Korea,Russia,albania (muslim,jewish,christian etc) I’m highlighting the richness of muslim music and poetry both traditional and contemporary so that my students can have a better understanding of the muslim world.Last week I did a class on Rumi and The New York Daily News did a story on it which comes out tommorow.
Green Peace Anthem- I was just in LA and was asked by Dave stewart (eurythmics) to record a Green Peace song. I sang on it with Annie lennox and sarah mclachlan and also played guitar.
New album-I’m recording new songs as well which should be coming out later this year.
