Oh yes , it absolutely is considered a good salary .. mostly people are offered 25K in Manchester specially during recession times , salaries have gone low.

But 30K is a good enough salary and can easily maintain a family of 4 people .. I am keeping the following factors in mind :

  • Average rent for a two bedroom flat = £500 PCM
  • Bills include gas , water and electricity
  • Insurance and Car
  • Schooling is free, health service is free so no cost there.

Rest is dependent on your lifestyle ..

Assuming you are just a "computer engineer" with no experience, you will be lucky to get a starting job of 22K onwards. Keep in mind UK has still not recovered from the recession as per media reports in print and electronic media.
