Salad ideas

You guys got some quick and easy salad ideas for lunch?

I am not creative enough when it comes to food.

Re: Salad ideas

baby spinach, cottage cheese, cranberries, and walnuts/pecans. I take this almost everyday. Easy and refreshing.

^I do baby spinach, kidney beans, chick peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, (occasionally beets or corn), and croutons.

^Sprinkle some pepper, drizzle some olive oil, and mix in creamy italian dressing

Re: Salad ideas

^ i make that salad (without chickpeas which i'll try next time!) and using that dressing and i love adding blocked cheese cubes! mmm! and lettuce, olives!

i feel like making this salad now. lol!

YUM! Maybe I'll try olives and blocked cheese cubes (in the past, I found them overpowering). What kind do you use?

Re: Salad ideas

^^ maybe try little bit crumbled fetta or blue chesse

Re: Salad ideas

Mmm sounds yummy

Here are some more salad recipes that Ive bookmarked but havent gotten around to trying as yet:

Re: Salad ideas

Baby spinach, mushrooms, black olives, green beans, sunflower seeds, cous cous and some cheddar cheese.

^ This is my absolute favorite combination...sometimes I substitute the cous couse with a tiny amount of raspberry vinagrette as a dressing (I dont like salad dressings...find them too strong).

I've tried feta and I found it too strong. Blue cheese....I prefer it in dressing instead.

Re: Salad ideas

maybe try the low sodium fetta or shredded or slivered parmesan cheese (i think you guys are looking for a dry cheese?)

Uh-uh.....can't do cous cous in salad. I tried quinoa (which is like cous cous but loaded with protein an a super food)....and I didn't like it. I don't like the texture of it in salad.

Re: Salad ideas

Ach...just get things you can get your hands on...seasonal/sale...things like greens/lettuce...fruits...boiled beans/grains...cheeses...bleached vegetables/roots/olives/eggs...oils/vinegar & sauces...

Just chop/rasp them and mix...voila... :D

Re: Salad ideas

Shred up some cabbage and carrots, and make a dressing of 1/2 mayo and half dahi, and a little bit of sweet pickle juice.

Roasted salted sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds (pepitas) are good on green salads, as is grated cheese.

When tomatoes are out of season or not good, use orange sections instead. Orange and thinly sliced onion are good together in salads, too.

RV...never tried quinoa...will give it a go. I just love cous cous in a salad but it has to be made a certain way. Meaning not just bland or anything. I use it as more of a salad dressing. Mixed with sunflower seeds and some shredded cheddar...heaven

Re: Salad ideas

Yum! Thanks guys! Keep them coming.

We can make this our salad thread and mods can maybe sticky it.

Re: Salad ideas

3 bean salad...potato/kidney beans and chick peas and then add mint sauce to it...yummmm

Re: Salad ideas

I made one last night for dinner, didn't go out and buy anything, just used up what was in the fridge and it turned out great! tomato, mushroom, spring onion, coriander, kalamata olives and drizzled with italian dressing. Do Try It!

i love using green olives and cheddar cheese! sometimes i add in orange cheddar cheese as well as the yellow to make the salad colours even nicer!

Re: Salad ideas

My salad today:

Spinach
Red onions
Mushrooms
Black olives
Cous Cous
Sunflower seeds
Cheddar cheese
Tiny bit of pasta salad to top it all off

Yummmmmmyyyyy!

I’m too lazy to even make a salad - yeah, I know how pathetic :chai:

But, I went to the salad place downstairs, and as I type, I am eating a salad with a romaine lettuce base. It has beets, chick peas, carrots, green peppers, crumbled eggs, cheddar cheese, sundried tomatoes, croutons and has an italian herb dressing. It’s :yummy:
