I like variety of ingredients in my salad. Spinach, lettuce, tomatoes (a must), boiled potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, beets, diced hard-boiled egg, kidney beans or **chick peas, small cubes of cheese **or grated cheese. And for crunch I either croutons, sunflower seeds, pine-nuts, pecans/walnuts. Sometimes I add boiled pasta for texture. I like to season my salad with salt/pepper/lemon/olive oil before putting on the dressing.
For dressings, i like the creamy variety better such as creamy italian, ranch, blue cheese, thousand islands, french, or a mayonnaise based dressing. I want to one day try making chicken waldorf salad which contains chicken, savory vegetables, as well as fruit in a mayo based dressing.
