i want to learn something about following madhabs
can anyone get me something on following a madha please (not blindly but just in matters of fiqh), is it recommended? so far i have this
*We should realise that the following of a mathab has been practised upon for most of the islaamic era and also the following of a particular person was also practised on by the sahaabah. After the demise of Rasulullaah the ordinary sahaabah would refer to the fuqahaa amongst the sahaabah and accept their decisions. Sayyidina Abdullah bin masood radhiyallahu anhu , although being a faqeeh, would give preference to the qowl (verdict ) of ameerul mo’mineen 'Umar radhayallahu anhu. This is manifest in the fact of the performance of 20 rakaa3aat in taraweeh. Therefore if a layman trusts a certain mujtahid and feels at ease with his verdicts, then to follow his mathab will be the the most appropriate thing to do. In the following of the mathaahib is safety for us as we remove from our necks the burden of responsibility of being answerable of proof on the day of Judgement. We will notice that great scholars, who were mountains of knowledge, followed mathaahib. The likes of ibni Hajar 'Asqalaani, an nawawi alaini, ibni taymiyyah himself and many others clearly followed a mathab and would actually sign their linkage of their mathab with their name eg ibni taymiyyah would sign al hambali. We should remember that in order for us to make our own decisions, it is necessary to have gained expertise in the fourteen different faculties of knowledge as was mentioned by none other than the likes of imaam shafi3ee , Maalik (rahimahumallah) etc. Remember we have to have infront of us the different proofs of the different masaa’il before we even attempt to make our own deduction. Many a times we look for the easy way out and follow our whims and fancies thereby becoming of those who follow their hawaa and nafs (ALLAH SAVE US). *
*Another important factor to remember is that every mathab has its proof for the different masaa’il . Therefore all the four mathaahib are on haq. *
and Allah knows best
