Salaami/Wedding gifts

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts

according to my mom..... money given to bride and groom belong to bride and groom...... and if someone gives money to parents of the bride...... then that money belongs to parents... and it is their choice what to do.... weather to give it to the couple.... or pay off any loan.... it is for their use..

when my parents got married... my tai ammi took all the money... even the ones given to my parents personally........ she did that to all her devers...... (too bad) ........ funnyly she couldn't do that to her bahu and son...... lolzz

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts

^^ i think some ppl hand the money to the parents bcuz they dont want o hand it to the bride or the groom...but the intentions of the money is to be a gift to the bride n groom not the parents.

we plan to keeps ours (i told me mom, and he told his mom to give the money back to us) we plan to put a down payment of a condo with it iA :D

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts

All our guests gave their envelopes to our parents, which they gave to us afterwards. Imagine the Bride sitting their with 400 envelopes? Lol!

That money is for Bride & Groom and its up to them then who they want to give it too, e.g charity or MIL etc. I mean a Bride & Groom are newly weds and that money could really help them e.g. getting a new car, putting a deposit down for a home, getting things for their new home etc.

I would never want to keep my children's wedding money - I'd want to give them as much as I could! Lol. :)

Ya I do that sometimes, just out of convenience I will give it to the mom or someone! Sometimes I dont get to go on stage to greet the couple until later in the evening and if the envelope is too big to fit in my clutch then I dont want to be carrying it around with me all evening, so I will give it to the mom when I greet her. But I never knew that the parents will keep the money, I always thought they give it to the couple afterwards

Zara My Mil even fought with my mom later saying why she didn't give her the salami from our side?

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts

OMG!! really... thts ridiculous..

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts

I think in our family salami belongs to bride and groom and parents keep the gift money :hmmm:

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts

wisaye..... if we are taking a gift for the couple... do we have to give salami?? is it this or that situation.... or both?

i never understood the whole thing.......... if we are going from the bride's side... my mother buy a gift... and also givve salami to the groom........ and if going from groom's side... she only buys a gift for the couple......

Re: Salaami/Wedding gifts
