Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Adopding an abondaned baby, what a noble deed.
**
Making a show out of it and letting the whole world know where and how the baby came from, sorry to say not so noble. **
Ps: Amara is a gorgeous little baby mA.
Do you not think she is perhaps just raising awareness?
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Erm no. Calling someone ugly is no ones right. Desi or non-desi.
Was that aimed at me?
Btw that reference to 'desis' is that poster's way of carrying on an obsessive grudge.. Unlike some ppl I'm not going to start thread after thread baiting posters over something that once upset me on the forum (in his case perceived 'bashing' of Pakistan)..
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan

No I don't feel it has anything to do with raising awareness, she is just making it about herself. If I were that baby I wouldn't want the whole world to know I was some abandoned baby left at the Eidhi Center.
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Are you from the UK? Just wondering if you'd seen her on The Apprentice or anything.. She's done a few other bits of tv work as well.. I remember her going to Pakistan or Afghanistan a while back for some documentary..
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Deeba, I am from USA and not familiar with her or her work. Was I too quick to pass judgement?
Either way I still have a problem with everyone knowing where the baby came from. :(
No, am sure some ppl will find it distasteful she has filmed the experience or not nice for the child to be exposed to the media.. It's an emotive subject..
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
if the televising will increase awareness of the plight of abandoned babies, the amazing work edhi does, and have some more people support edhi efforts, then it is worth it.
as far as everyone knowing where the baby came from, I think in the future it is the child's decision to share it or not share it, but it is not advisable to go to the other extreme and just hide the fact that she is adopted. if you are even a b or c list public figure, people would dig in and find out all about your life anyways, and in such cases i suppose it is a tough call how much to share, and balance the good that can come out of it vs the bad it can have.
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
^this and also I am in favour of parents letting their children know when they grow up somewhere in life that they were adopted before they find it accidently from somebody else and that hurts them beyond repair. But what would be the right time and way to break this news is again a tricky question
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Sorry to say, but both the woman and the child are ugly.
And Yudhisthira's chariot, which up to that time, was flying 3 inches off the ground, touched the ground as soon as he uttered "Ashwathama, the elephant, is dead".
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Kinda off topic but her documentary about Pakistan was terrible. She shouldn't be working in television. I don't see how appearing in the apprentice even makes you a viable candidate for that.

Was Yudhisthira a Hindu God? Pretty weak for a God, if you ask me. If his chariot could go up only 3 inches from the ground...
Re: Saira Khan from The Apprentice adopts a child from Pakistan
Our very own Hadiqa Kiyani adopted a kid from earthquake affected region. She did not make a show out of it and did it in a very graceful way.
Saira Khan may have noble thoughts in her mind and heart but the way she has gone about it is not well thought out.. even if she wanted to raise awareness. Anyways, well done for the gesture.

Yudhishtira was one of the 5 Pandavas - not a Hindu god. He was known as Dharmaputra - son of Dharma. He did not swerve from the path of righteousness till on the battlefield, he told a white lie indicating Ashwathama was dead (albeit it was Ashwathama the elephant, and not Ashwathama the son of Drona).
Fast forward to the Kali Yug, and I hear a guppies' chariot, which was flying a few inches off the ground, started heading downward when he started talking about buying cars that give 2 miles per gallon, and then eventually joined us mere mortals with the latest comment re: the adopted child :)
