ive heard about it too.. my cousins know the story.. something to do with a prince and a girl he loved hmmm

Actually it was a love story of some sort. Like a fairytale more like it. I heard it was also about a prince and his undying love for a girl.

hmmm I don't know...this lake looks better in pictures. I was very eager to see this place but when I got there, I wasn't very impressed…there was a lot of litter in the surroundings…Pakistani tourism should put more effort in promoting and taking care of such places. I like the reflection of mountains in water

yeah.. i just read somewhere it was about a prince who fell in love with a fairy..

Interesting! Details, details, please from someone knowledgeable.

What a great thread by Khanzada in Travel Forum (Masha'Allah). Kaash hum sab ko aisa mauqa milay kai poori Pakistan ko theek sai dekh sakain.

Nadz.. i think the story is best heard by someone who lives in the area.. but my cousins have been there and thats the story they told me

b/w totally off topic, my cousins had actually gone somewhere up north and this baby calf was born with the kalma on the skin.. we've got pictures of it too.. amazing stuff

a prince in love with a fairy?

Now why can't Pakistani movies be made on stuff like that? (better than Anjuman thumping away in some random village)

Now i soooooooo wanna know the story,
it all started when i was showin my hubby Khanu's awesome piccys in the travel forum n somehow he ended up tellin me about Saif ul mullok n how he went there, and he found it strange that the water was super still, n he was somewhat creeped out (i say he was scared but shh) anyways he said there was this story behind this lake n i tried searchin for the storybut couldnt find it.. so i was liek ill ask here, heck i got more INFO from u guppies than the stupid internet results. If anyone can find the real story behind it.. id be oh so thankful..

its something to do with the full moon as well Devil... like when its full moon the water is extremely still and the villagers believe that the prince comes to meet the fairy there..

man.. i will find out tonight acha

“is said that, at every midnight, fairies come here and dance together in the moonlight. And one can listen the musical sound of bells every night here”

Saif ul Malook

The tour guides over there tell this story very well, to make money ofcourse

A moving tale of one mans ardent love for a beautiful woman. saif ul muluk a prince from iran , had heard of the dazzling brilliance of the queen of the kaghan mountains (northern Pakistan) . He leaves his home to meet her. but the only way to see her was to look at her reflection in the lake at night. So the prince sat there days and night gazing at her reflection, till he breathed his last. Legend says that the prince became a part of the lake so that he could be with his love forever. The lake saif ul mulook is named after him . … the end…

pretty lame love story

Lame?? ^^ its shoooooooooooooooo shweeeeeeeeet gushes her lil heart out

Ah…i love the jheel.

aap sab loug to tareefain kar kar ke sharminda kar rahe hain. I remember the story…quite vaguely though…i think if i try harder..perhaps i will be able to reproduce it almost :stuck_out_tongue:

Starring: Shehzadi Badar Jamal, Shehzada Saif-ul-Mulook, Deo (demon)
Setting: Scene 1: Koh Qaaf, Scene 2: Malika Parbat
The End: Happy Ending
