SAHM ?

Question for mommies out there..
I have two kids, 3 and 1.5.Just looking for some ideas on what to do all day long?
They have way too much energy, so it can get a bit tiring some days.
We go to the park some days, and it’s great for them as they’ll run around and be really tired and ready for their naps. But it’s not possible everyday.
We also go to the library sometimes, as my older kid LOVES books, but recently with the younger one trying to touch every single thing in his reach , it can turn into a hassle.
Also crafts are fun too, but only sometimes. My niece is more interested in doing crafts than my boys are…so just wondering what other mommies are doing?

Re: SAHM ?

how about water play in the backyard or in the tub?
you will have to watch them carefully if you put them in the tub......but at least they won't be running around.

water presents a resistance that tends to tire kids out.

Re: SAHM ?

^ thanks! Thats a great idea, but we usually do that right before bed-time.My son has recently discovered these different colored bath-fizz tablets, and he loves playing in different colored water every night , and that makes him look forward to bath time :hehe:

I've bought a book called "Busy Book" with hundred of ideas to occupy toddlers, 3 to 6 and 6 to 10 years old.

Library and books are a GREAT practice---congrats on incorporating that into your children's lives! Reading to your kids is soooooooooooo important, and its so important to spark their intellectual curiosity. It's an easy investment that will pay off over their entire life.

If you live near a park or a spot with some pavement, try bringing some sidewalk chalk and letting them draw on the sidewalk! Kids love anything artsy, and you could also draw a hopscotch pattern they can hop on and get tired out.

Love the water idea. It does tire kids out very effectively. Swimming lessons would be great---I think swimming is an important skill for everyone. My 1.5 and 3.5 yr old nieces are crazy about their little inflatable pool.

If you live someplace green and leafy go on a nature walk and start introducing them to some basic tree and plant identifications. You could bring a few different leaves or flowers home and use them to make artwork, to press between wax paper and make a card for grandma, etc.

If you have a children's museum near you, consider buying a membership. Kids at that age thrive on repetition and could probably go once a week and love it as much every single time, and most museums have daily presentations, activities, etc.

So true and so important!

Re: SAHM ?

I take my daughter to weekly music and singing classes, which she absolutely loves! You get to meet so many other Mums, so you yourself get to do lots of socializing. The kids get to play with different musical instruments and hand puppets. Find out from your local library about music or singing classes. I take her swimming twice a week as well which is great fun for both of us!

My local library has so many weekly activities for kids. They have reading classes for babies and toddlers which involves music as well. Then they have an arts and crafts session on another day. They organise trips to the sea-side, to toy museum's etc.

Do you have a soft-play centre near your area? Those huge rooms filled with small, colored balls for kids to amuse themselves for hours?

Buy play-dough for your kids with the mini-rolling pin etc. That keeps my daughter busy! Lol!

Find out about any puppet shows etc that are showing in your local museum etc.
