My wife and I don't see eye to eye on many things.............but we do agree that Sahir is an eyesore to watch. What urks me most is his pronunciation of salaam. These TV personalities feel that it is so uncool to pronouce "Assalaam Waalaikum" and they continuously butcher this sunnah.
I believe the only reason there is demand for these shows is due to their giveaways on the shows. Sahir with his mobile phones (to which he chooses 90% of females in the audience) and the other morning shows for their "gift hampers" , etc, etc. blah blah blah.
Take Amir Liaquat's sehri transmission for example. I'm not well versed in Islamiat and it has been decades since I took that class in Karachi..........but people reguarly call into his show just to get a chance to win a prize (though they have no clue on the basic questions he asks).

My objection to people like Sahir Lodhi, and Shaista Wahidi's ilk is that they are dumbing down our nation. And if you continue to watch this type of brainless shows, especially if it's as sleazy as Sahir Lodhi's shows normally are...then it is bound to have an impact on you. And I for one cannot imagine that impact as a positive one. Media is a very powerful outlet, and it can shape the minds, ideology of people etc. So what you see on t.v can affect you a great deal.
Plus, why should intelligent people be forced to either watch these ghattiya shows, or tune in to some other foreign channels, or else turn off their t.v. because of retards like these?? Sorry if I made a personal attack in this too politically correct word, but right now I cannot think of a politically correct phrase to describe a retard. I want to see something worthwhile on t.v. and I don't know how these people are still on air, when they have nothing to offer.
Of all male hosts/anchor persons, I think Tausiq Haider is very decent, and he can carry a conversation. And Noor ul Hassan isn't bad either. And these people have at least some knowledge of what they are talking about. The rest are just depressingly cheap.
