Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

I’d like to hear Karachi-ites’ practical advice on how to stay safe when visiting the city. Must do’s and must not do’s?

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Limit your cell phone use in public. It makes for a big target.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

especially a note. you are done for, chailady. :\

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

:omg:Now THAT’S funny!

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

That’s a very good point!

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

That’s it? Surely there must be other precautions to take?

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Babyy, just keep your Note hidden inside your clothing at all times. That’s all I gotta say.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Pack heat.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Avoid being out too late at night. Keep yourself aware of your surroundings. You can be extra careful (or paranoid) and even make sure to keep looking to see that no one is following you around.

The thing is though, anything can happen at anytime out there. A lot of it depends on luck and being at the wrong place at the wrong time as well. But you can take those small precautions and limit your overall exposure then you should be okay.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Also it helps if you know Sindhi, they wont mistake you for a phatan and shoot you point blank.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Ak-47 all the way.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Ummm…packing heat is just not an option (no room, carrying my Note around and all :clown:…)

How about, in order to get some more concrete suggestions, people chime in with stuff that has happened to them or people they know, and then we can see what their mistake was or how they could have avoided the situation? For instance, how late is too late?

:hehe:

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

When you’re in a car, keep the windows closed and the doors locked. Few years back, i had the window down, i was in the back seat, some guy threw his phone number written on a piece of paper. I’ve heard of people throwing burning cigarette butts through car windows at red signals too.

Don’t carry too much cash on you. Just last year, my friend got robbed twice, he was carrying cash to pay for his airfare when they took all of his money. Few days later, he again left to buy his airfare, got robbed again :frowning:

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

All in all stay inside home all the time. Don’t go out and you’ll be safe.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

^^ Is it that bad or just hyped up hysteria.. Other cities can be worse. I think if it is that bad, why bother to visit.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

I was just joking , tbh it’s same in every city.

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

If I got robbed TWICE going to pay for a ticket, I’d make sure it was a one way ticket!

So you have your car windows rolled up even when it’s hot? What if you have no A/C?

A guy throwing his phone number in your window is a) VERY desperate, and b) makes it REALLY easy for the police to get ahold of him…

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Dont say a bad word about Altaf bhai to anyone Please

And Stay Safe Dude!

Re: Safety precautions for someone visiting Karachi?

Haha, like the police would even listen to your complaint :omg:.
The police here is useless, you’re on your own when in Karachi.
