Hi Guys,
I need to send a small gold set and a ring to pakistan from the states urgently and I can’t find someone who is going soon enough to take it personally. What would you guys advise? Would DHL or Fedex be a safe option? Has anyone ever tried this? I’m worried about once it gets to pakistan since I don’t trust the people handling it there once they find out the contents since its gold.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

personally i would not do it, although i have no experience. i'm sure it would get scanned in the US and you might have to declare it on a customs form or something, but not sure about Pakistan....and i would not trust the people there.

that's exactly my fear nabz...I don't trust the people handling it once it gets to the facility there. :-/

If you HAVE to do it, pack the jewelery at home so the shipper doesn't know exactly what's in there. Also, overstate the value on the insurance slip. It tends to deter theft, but also , if it is stolen you will get the value that you declared. But the downside of that is the recipient will have to pay tax based on the value of the goods.

Don't do it!!!! I once sent some cute stickers to my hubbys nephews a long time ago they never got them but got the card. A gold set, pppffftt no chance!!!

Trust Me, they will swallow much amount from it... so an advice is that wait until you come to Pakistan or send money equal to that gold set...
I am saying this bcoz I had done it once and had a great loss :)

DO NOT DO IT!!! I send something in the US worth $100 (it was tiny pendant). Anyways, it got lost and I did not get insurance. However, if u get insurance then you have to prove the value I think.

I would't. Have sent a few cheap things before like artificial earrings and they never reached the person so a gold set is risking it!

PLEASE DO NOT SEND IT!!!
Nothing we have ever sent to Pakistan with the exception of money wires (Western Union) have worked. We now send the value of the gift in money, which is at least going to reach its final destination. Please consider this option instead as I have had horrible experiences with DHL and Fedex... don't do it!
The value of gold is so great that people rather risk their jobs and going to prison for the sake of stealing it... there is very little accountability so it is very easy to do and they probably won't get caught or have to suffer any consequences.
Send money instead and let them buy something or use fake gold jewellery instead. The next time you can get a trusted person to hand deliver it to them will be worth the wait instead of losing the gold set entirely... that certainly is not worth it :(

i believe that all courier companies have it in their terms and conditions that you cannot send jewellery. I was in the same situation and that is why I know (atleast true for the UK).

thanks so much everyone...i'm still having such a huge issue finding someone to take it and am getting really stressed. Unfortunately I cannot send the value of it in a monetary way...I have to send this specific one back for a certain reason. Thank you again for all of your advice I will not be sending it via courier but will still keep searching for anyone going.

Couriers don't take silver and gold jewelry, and even if they do it's not safe.
