This would have been great for Pakistan cricket. A sincere person heading the selection committee but unfortunately he turned it down. I’m very sad to hear that.

LAHORE: Former captain Saeed Anwar has turned down Pakistan Cricket Board chief selector’s post offer and in turn expressed his desire to become the batting consultant of the national team.
“I was offered the post of chief selector but I told the PCB chairman that I could not take up the job as I don’t think I would be able to do justice to the position,” Anwar said.
“But I have told him that I do want to help the Pakistan team and I can do this as a batting consultant,” said the former Test opener, who retired in 2003 and now spends most of his time in religious preaching.
“I am due to meet the PCB chairman next month and he will tell me in what way I can play a positive role with the Pakistan team. But I personally feel that to be successful in cricket a player needs to be mentally tough and should possess a big heart,” he added.
Saeed said that he was happy to hear that former teammate and fast bowler Waqar Younis is likely to be appointed as the coach of the national team.
“I think it would be a great move because he is well respected and has impressive cricketing background and knowledge of modern day requirements.”
PCB chief selector’s position lies vacant after Iqbal Qasim’s resignation following Pakistan’s disastrous were tour of Australia, where they were whitewashed in both the Tests as well as the ODI series.
Its good that he rejected the offer. Another lame @$$ step by PCB. No question about anwar's dedication and skills but his availability should raise the flag for any sane person (looks like PCB does not have one).
Anwar has deeply attached himself to religion (which is good for him). He dont even listen to cricket news let alone playing cricket. After VERY long time he showed up on the final of tournament that Rashid Latif organized (they are BEST friends and it was Rashid's personal request). I doubt that he will be available for long "observation" sessions during local games
batting coach and anwar? he had no technique, no foot work, no strategy and flourished amid a gifted hand-eye coordination....amazing player to watch by the way but we are talking about a "coach"...we need some one like gavaskar, dravid....

even an average pakistani like me with little or no cricket knowledge can select a team for Pakistan. the things that needs to be considered are age, fitness, passion, potential, sustainability, and strength to handle pressure…but no, PCB will always trust either a parchee or a charsee…
but before selecting that i would like to do the following…
kicks the butt’s and farhat’s butt out. err…even a life time ban as we have on salim malik is aint enough for em.
give afridi, yonus khan, M.Yusuf, shoib malik, kamran akmal a tight chitrol.
toor shoaib actor’s haida so he ever even thinks about playing cricket.
misbah must get some verdict from peer-fakeer-sarak toootaa that he is simply unlucky.
