We have two decent openers in Elahi and Taufeeq who need to start getting some solid experience behind them. Sticking with fading stars is going to hurt us in the long run.

I think Imran Nazir can be considered a 2nd option for opener.
he has no technique - he got 60 against nambia so what?he has never scored against top sides.he shuffles across his stumps and all 90% of his dismisals come from lbw or caught in the slips.he has been given p0lenty of chances and has never done a good enough job to stay in the side.
his temperament has also been suspect throughour his career.
instead of elahi,pakistan need saeed anwar to open with taufeeq umer or imran farhat.both have good techniques and are good young players who have what it takes to suceed in the game
Elahi is very ordinary at best. Sherlock is right. He shuffles across the wicket way too much. He tends to chip the ball more. We need solid players who can guard the wicket very well. Enough with mediocre players!I would rather have Nazir inplace of Elahi. Atleast nazir can hit the ball cleanly. He is tulla but very similar to Shewag. Even then I would prefer Tuafiq and Saeed to open.
It was Waqar who brought in Salim Elahi inplace of Saeed Anwar. He is a genius behind his inclusion. arghh Salim Elahi does not look like a "specialist" batsman. His technique is horrible.
