Sadqa

Out of pure curiousity is sadqa given say when an egagement is decided etc ? Is this a norm?

Re: Sadqa

It could be given when an engagement is decided. Sadaqah is “charity” and in Islam there are various types of Sadaqah (ie. through money, through passing of knowledge, a noble act, etc). It is always a good time to give sadaqah.

"When a person dies, his works end except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Muslim)

Re: Sadqa

Peace Life01,

No. However, if one wish to do so then there is no issue.

Peace @Illuminate,

Ongoing charity and righteous child both have an ending. However, the knowledge will never end.

Re: Sadqa

Yes you are right. I think we all hope that our charity has a large impact and produces a good change which bring about more good change and so on. Also, that one day our children will go on to have pious children that will pray for everyone.

The usual practice for giving sadaqah is upon hardship and the usual practice upon things that have gone well is to offer 2 rakah nafila.

But nothing stops you for giving sadaqah.
