Its quite funny that Saddam has been hanged when he posed no threat to his people. But when he was fighting Iran using mustard gas, gassing his own people and killing and murdering thousands of his fellow countrymen, he was armed and tollerated by the west and not imprisoned or hanged.
Please read my poem in the poetry section which talks about Saddam Hussein.
Also i heard that he took the shahadah before he died and was clutching the Quran as he was hanged.

Yeah right, let me murder every man of your family unlawfully; cut their dead bodies into pieces and send their arms, legs and heads in a trash can to your mother who is too old to stand up on her feet. Would you not be willing to, atleast, hang me? And what would be your mother’s opinion regarding my punishment? Execution of Saddam is absolutely Islamic. Yeah maybe Eid was not a good day for the execution of that American pet. Perhaps that could be done earlier.

anyways as much he deserves the death penalty, the trial should've gone to the end. what was the hurry to get this trial by the end of the year, or specifically on eid?
He was just half way through his second trial, why couldnt they wait for it to finish? seems like there was some external pressure, this wasnt an all iraqi as they claim. someone needed to save their butt and fast.

^ any sane person will know that saddam was not some kind of sunni hero despite his rhetoric in the last few years
saddam killed shias for political NOT religious reasons, sunnis who opposed him fared no better .....

And guess what amongst all this the the top British civil servant who gave the world the dodgy dossier and assorted tosh about Saddam Hussein's non-existent weapons of mass destruction and 45-minute delivery thereof, has been duly awarded with a knighthood.

“We hope that this event would not further exacerbate the security situation. It remains our earnest hope to see peace, stability and reconciliation so that people of Iraq regain control of their affairs in a secure environment,” said a Foreign Office statement issued here today
ISLAMABAD, Dec 30 (APP):Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday termed execution of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussain a “sad incident” and hoped peace would prevail in the war torn country. “Pakistan desires that peace in Iraq prevails, and its people have the right to decide about their own future,” Prime Minister Aziz told newsmen after distributing eid gifts among the destitute here at the PM Secretariat
The Prime Minister, commenting on Saddam’s execution, said “it was a sad day” and hoped the security situation in the country would not further exacerbate.
Aziz said, “Pakistan has always supported the territorial integrity, sovereignty and unity of the Iraqi people,” and hoped for peace and stability in the country.
