i just heard this news on Waqt News. They claimed that 5 unmarried sisters [17-28] committed suicide by jumping into the Sutlej river. the anchorman, Aamir Abbas, further claimed that the girls were very upset because they could NOT wait for a meaningful rishta offer and since their father is a very poor man so they decided to end their lives.
very sad. no one should end his/her life due to poverty and lack of rishta.
MAILSI - Five real sisters committed suicide by jumping into Sutlej River on Thursday.
Body of one of them was recovered while search for the others was underway.
According to Saddar SHO Anwar Baloch, the poverty-stricken sisters, hailing from Himbalwala area of Mailsi tehsil came to Mailsi syphon and jumped into the river together.
Police said the names of the sisters were Fiaz Bibi, Zeenat Bibi, Muneeran Bibi, Nazia and Khamoun and they were aged between 17 to 28 years.
All the five deceased were unmarried and were passing through critical financial situation due to low income of their father Bashir Ahmed, a labourer.

I hope her family get through this ok especially the father.
Do we know this is suicide? it could be foul play.
So young..and they gave their life up to soon.
Marriage does not have an age limit.
Oh my god! This is so sad…i feel sorry for their parents it is like end of the world for them…
Nothing can justify their act… financial problem n no rishta… this is what i call “jahalt” there is too much jahalat in society and this happens due to lack of education…
life is not jus abt getting married and financial problem is also not a reason to kill ur self

not really…they thought they were a burden on his father who is in abject poverty…you may NOT know how they felt and how they came to the sad decision. they probably thought that their father would be spared of the expenses in supporting them. it wouldn’t have been the case had they been married’ like other girls, in time. so they blamed NO rishta as one of the factors.
i don’t think it was poverty or lack of rishta that made them do it, probably the taunts/pressure etc from the people
You can get away with all sort of sins in pakistan but being unmarried/single is like a sin especially for the girls…
May their father has the sabr/strength to get through this … Ameen
that could be one part of the story…you may very well be right…it’s indeed tough for women in the sub-continent.
the reason given by witnesses and those who knew them talk about the two reasons…no rishta and poverty. this fits well with the scenario/circumstances leading to their suicide.
that is quite right for a selfish and moronic guy. i was watching a talk show last night and they talked about these sisters at length and the host mentioned that they never received any rishtas and very depressed.
