The question I ask myself is "Do I have to be old??" :D. Yeah those books are really cool though, I used to read them back in High School all the time. But then this whole music genre exploded in the mid 90's, so I ditched the books for the music :)

awwww, u're not old, just probly a little too old for me ;) i love the whole fantasy genre actually. I love being taken away from the real world. Waiting for next Lord of the Rings :) tho i like a little more romance in the mix. anyways, how old is velvet underground? that sunday morning song (that i also like a lot) sounds very sixties
I don't usually listen to Bonnie Raitt, but here's a sad one....

Turn down the lights, turn down the bed
Turn down these voices inside my head
Lay down with me, tell me no lies
Just hold me close, don't patronize - don't patronize me
CHORUS:
Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these lonely hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't
Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't
I'll close my eyes, then I won't see
The love you don't feel when you're holding me
Morning will come and I'll do what's right
Just give me till then to give up this fight
And I will give up this fight
CHORUS:
Cause I can't make you love me if you don't
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these lonely hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't
Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't

I'll never let you see
The way my broken heart is hurting me
I've got my pride and I know how to hide
All my sorrow and pain
I'll do my crying in the rain
If I wait for stormy skies
You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
You'll never know that I still love you so
Though the heartaches remain
I'll do my crying in the rain
Raindrops falling from heaven
Could never take away my misery
But since we're not together
I pray for stormy weather
To hide these tears I hope you'll never see
Someday when my crying's done
I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
I may be a fool
But till then, darling, you'll never see me complain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
Too Much Love Will Kill You
Queen
(Lyrics and Music by Brian May)
I'm just the pieces of the man I used to be
Too many bitter tears are raining down on me
I'm far away from home
And I've been facin this alone for much too long
I feel like noone ever told the truth to me
About growing up and what a struggle it would be
In my tangled state of mind
I've been looking back to find where I went wrong
Too much love will you
If you cant make up your mind
Torn between the lover
And the love you leave behind
You're headed for disaster
Cause you never read the signs
Too much love will kill you every time
I'm just a shadow of the man I used to be
And it seems like theres no way out of this for me
I used to bring you sunshine
Now all I ever do is bring you down
How would it be if you were standing in my shoes
Can't you see that it's impossible to choose
Oh theres no making sense of it
Every way I go I'm bound to lose
Yes. Too much love will kill you
Just as sure as none at all
It will drain the power thats in you
Make you bleed and scream and crawl
And the pain will make you crazy
You're the victim of your crimes
Too much love will kill you every time
Yes. Too much love will kill you
It will make your life a lie
Yes too much love will kill you
And you wont understand why
Youd give your life
Youd sell your soul
But here it comes again
Too much Love will kill you
In the end...
In the end...

I have to add that Phil Collins Song, "Another Day in Paradise". Also really sad, in subject matter and song structure.

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear my crown of ****
on my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stain of time
the feeling disappears
you are someone else
I am still right here
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way
